Another horrifying incident has shaken the Hindu community in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, as yet another crime has unfolded during Ramzan. Asif, Mushtakin, Mohammad Esaa, and an accomplice forcibly entered a Hindu household, terrorizing its occupants. Brandishing a firearm, they subjected a married Hindu woman to harrowing sexual violence and rape in front of her 14-year-old son.
When her son resisted and attempted to save her, the Islamist predators brutally thrashed him. Others were standing and watching the brutal assault. The people present at the spot caught the accused and handed him over to the police. Police have registered a case against the three accused Islamists. Fortunately, the commotion attracted the attention of nearby residents, leading to the apprehension of Asif, while the other Islamist perpetrators managed to flee the scene.
Based on reports from local source Hindustan, the incident took place in a village with mixed population. The Hindu woman was at home with her son on March 29. At 12 o’clock in the night, Islamist predator Asif of the same village entered the house with fellow Mustakim and another companion. It is alleged that Mustaqeem placed a gun on the woman’s forehead. Meanwhile, when the woman’s 14-year-old son reached there, the bullies started beating the woman’s son mercilessly and raped the mother in front of him. On hearing the noise, neighbours rushed to the spot and caught hold of Asif, but his two accomplices managed to flee. People then handed him over to the police.
Questionable police treatment and action towards Islamist perpetrators
In the night itself, the villagers caught the main accused and handed him over to the police, but the police continued to try for a compromise. The action was taken after a complaint was received from higher authorities on Saturday. However, the police said it was a case of a love affair. Neither the medical examination of the victim was conducted nor her report were recorded. On the contrary, the woman was made to sit in the police station and pressured to compromise. On the other hand, the incident created tension in the village. Meanwhile, some people posted the matter on social media platform X and complained to the authorities. After this, the police station in-charge, Satish Kumar came on the backfoot, and the woman’s report was registered.
Raised concern about the safety of Hindus in Bareily
The Hindu community in Bareilly has been left shattered by a string of crimes targeting Hindus and Hindu women, particularly those perpetrated by Islamist predators. These incidents have raised serious concerns about the safety of Hindus in the region. Recently, Bareilly has witnessed several cases of forced conversion and the rape of Hindu women, further exacerbating the distress among the Hindu community members.
