The Kila Thana area in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, was reeling from a disturbing incident where a woman was allegedly coerced into marriage, abducted, and raped for several months by an Islamist, Mohd Sajid. The victim, who resides in Kila Thana, faced threats and pressure when she resisted the forced marriage proposal.

The woman, who was residing separately from her husband due to an ongoing dispute, detailed her ordeal to the police. According to her statement, Sajid, a resident of Swale Nagar, engaged in phone conversations with her and eventually visited her rented house in CBganj. Exploiting the vulnerability arising from her marital discord, Sajid allegedly established physical relations with her, claiming it was in the context of their impending marriage.

According to reports, the situation took a dark turn when the accused, under the pretext of marrying her on December 22, 2023, took the woman to Himachal Pradesh. Accompanied by his mother Akhtari and brother Fazil, Sajid orchestrated a deception. On the promised day, Akhtari offered the victim water, rendering her unconscious. When she regained consciousness, she found herself in Himachal Pradesh, where Sajid reportedly committed the heinous act of rape.

According to X handle Treeni, she was coerced into converting to Islam and subsequently forced into a Nikah, she also alleges that a Samajwadi Party leader was forcing her to reach a compromise.

Upon being brought back to Bareilly, the victim was allegedly threatened by the accused and his family against reporting the incident to the authorities. Despite the victim’s attempt to seek justice by filing a complaint at the police station, no action was initially taken. Frustrated by the lack of response, she approached the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).

It has been reported that Sajid has been arrested.

In recent years, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed cases reminiscent of Islamic jihad purportedly linked to Islamic extremism that have surfaced in recent times.
