More information is slowly trickling out in the case of rape and pregnancy of a minor girl in Mankada village in the Malappuram district of Kerala state. In this case, the girl’s brother and a cousin are in police custody. A complaint has been raised that a fourteen-year-old girl was brutally sexually assaulted by her brother and a young relative and the girl became pregnant. Now the information is coming out that both the accused were sexually abusing the girl constantly.

The sexual abuse victim is only fourteen years old. The girl’s brother who raped her is 20 years old. The police say that he was constantly sexually harassing the girl. While having drinks with another relative, the accused shared this information with his relative. He too started sexually harassing the girl by threatening to reveal these details. This accused brother is 24 years old.

Over the past few days, the minor girl’s health condition weakened considerably. She was admitted to the hospital after treatment at home did not improve her health. It was during the examination that the girl was found to be pregnant. Child Welfare Committee (CWC) workers intervened and counseled the girl. It was during the counseling session that the girl disclosed that she was a victim of brutal sexual harassment. Then the CWC Counselors informed the police.

After the hospital authorities informed the police about the incident of the pregnancy of a minor girl, the police registered a case in the incident. A case has been registered against the accused under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Mankada Police stated that both the accused have been taken into custody.

It is reported that the fourteen-year-old is currently five months pregnant. The news is now coming out that the girl was a victim of torture in her own house and in the nearby backyards. The police have started an investigation into whether more accused are involved in the incident. The victim was shifted to a safe house.

Malappuram district is at least 75% Muslim population and such atrocities against minors at the hands of relatives are on the rise.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday said that they have attached a poultry farm in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam, which was used by the members of an IS-inspired terror group, ‘Sufa’, in connection with a conspiracy to perpetrate acts of terror in Rajasthan.

This farm house belongs to an individual, named Imran Khan.

“The property attached by NIA under UA (PA) Act 1967 is located in village Julwaniya, Viryakhedi Road, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. It was owned by accused Imran Khan and was used by ‘Sufa’ members for radicalizing new cadres and training them in making IEDs,” said the official.

The NIA had filed a charge sheet against Imran Khan and 10 other accused on September 22, 2022. It had recovered explosives and components used in fabrication of IEDs, etc., from the possession of the accused persons.

The NIA said that they earlier registered a case against Sufa, a newly formed local terror group, in April 2022, in connection with its (Sufa) criminal conspiracy to plan and carry out terrorist acts in Rajasthan.

The NIA investigations have revealed that Sufa was deeply inspired by the activities of IS and was inclined toward the Jihadi ideology. The members of Sufa had motivated youths of the area also to join this group for carrying out terror acts.

Further investigations into the matter are on.

Oppenheimer, subject of Nolan’s biopic, found solace in Bhagavad Gita

0

With Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ gearing up for its theatrical release, interest in the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, also referred to as the ‘Father of the atom bomb’, has skyrocketed, especially his leaning towards Hindu Dharma and his references to the Bhagavad Gita.

Oppenheimer and his team altered the course of human history during World War II with the Manhattan Project, which led to the creation of the first nuclear bomb in 1945.

Throughout the course of his life, particularly during the nuclear tests, Oppenheimer found a strong source of inspiration in the classical Hindu text, the Bhagavad Gita, to which he looked for many answers that helped shape his entire philosophy of life itself.

This was especially true, when faced with the enormity of his creation and the devastation it could unleash, the physicist cited the law of dharma or sacred duty from the Bhagavad Gita.

Oppenheimer, who kept a well-worn copy of the Bhagavad Gita close by his desk, even distributed copies among his friends, including once at the memorial service of US President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The scientist was heavily influenced by the 700-verse dialogue between the prince of the Pandavas, Arjuna and Bhagwan Krishna on the Kurukshetra battlefield.

Questioned over the ramifications of the Manhattan Project, Oppenheimer based his justification to go ahead with its development on the basis of the argument Krishna told Arjuna on understanding his dharma or sacred duty as a warrior when it came to fighting his own loved ones.

As a warrior, Krishna argues that Arjuna’s dharma is to fight, no matter what the outcome, and the warrior will best serve both himself and society by performing his duties as a warrior in the face of battle.

Krishna said that for Arjuna the pacifist’s route isn’t a selfless one, but rather one born of his own desires, and if everyone began rejecting their duties in the face of hard choices, then the whole world would fall into disarray.

Influenced by this perspective of dharma, Oppenheimer separated his dharma, which was to help create the bomb, from that of the Government leaders, whose dharma lay in making the final decision to push the button and determine the when and where.

As he would later state, “I did my job which was the job I was supposed to do.”

In historian James Hijiya’s summary, “It was the duty of the scientist to build the bomb, but it was the duty of the statesman to decide how to use it. Oppenheimer clearly and repeatedly acknowledged these very different dharmas.”

According to Hijiya, Oppenheimer’s understanding of the concept of dharma was pretty clear. He said that the physicist despite the doubts surrounding him regarding the implications of such a deadly weapon deemed it his duty as a scientist to finish the bomb, and made various statements in the course of making it, as well as in the years after, on the importance of following his dharma.

On witnessing the mushroom cloud following the detonation of the first nuclear bomb during the Trinity Test on July 16, 1945, Oppenheimer had quoted from the Gita, “If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendour of the Mighty One” – in reference to the shloka when Bhagwan Krishna reveals his massive divine form.

Recalling the scene two decades later, Oppenheimer had said with a very cold unblinking look in his eyes, “We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita.”

“Vishnu is trying to persuade the prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, ‘Now I am become Death, the Destroyer of worlds.’ I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.”

Even late in life, the Gita continued to influence him. When asked which books influenced his “philosophy of life”, Oppenheimer listed the Gita alongside Eliot’s ‘The Waste Land’, which was itself inspired by the Upanishads, and Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, among the ten books that most shaped his life.

While he never turned to Hindu Dharma as a devotee, Oppenheimer looked at the Gita as one of the keys to understanding the many metaphysical aspects of the cosmos as well as determining the structure of his own life, particularly as a way to make sense of his own actions.

A bit about his background:

Oppenheimer belonged to a family of German-American Jews, with his family being affiliated with Felix Adler’s Society for Ethical Culture, which led the young Oppenheimer straight to the society’s school in New York, where his father was on the board of directors.

This school abandoned the spiritual and supernatural aspects propagated by religion, and rather focused on teaching students the importance of human welfare based on rationality and moral principles. It also provided quality training in science and literature

Isidor Isaac Rabi, a physicist who met the young Oppenheimer in 1929, and also worked with him later on the Manhattan Project, said that the ‘Father of the atom bomb’ was already seeking “a more profound approach to human relations and man’s place in the universe.” He appeared to have found this approach in the Hindu classics, which interested him even more than physics.

Oppenheimer, even back in his days as a student had interest in discovering the sheer mysticism of the universe, the secrets to life, death and a human’s place in the cosmos.

In this aspect, Oppenheimer turned to philosophies which could aid his understanding of the universe which transcended his own scientific knowledge. This source of knowledge he found in the Bhagavad Gita.

In 1933, during his tenure as a professor at Berkeley, his interest in Hindu Dharma increased upon meeting Arthur W. Ryder, a professor of Sanskrit, who taught Oppenheimer the ancient Bharatiyalanguage.

Captivated by the Gita, Oppenheimer called it “the most beautiful philosophical song existing in any known tongue.” This created in him, what his colleague Rabi called, “a feeling of mystery of the universe that surrounded him like a fog.”

A seven-year-old minor girl was raped by a peon at a private school in Jodhpur, police said, adding the accused has been arrested.

According to the victim’s mother, the girl was six-years-old old when she was raped by Ashok Meghwal (23), a resident of Sawla Kala.

The police said that the accused had threatened the victim that he would kill her family member if she shared the ordeal with anyone.

ADCP Nishant Bhardwaj said following his arrest on Sunday, Meghwal has been sent to jail.

He had been working in the GK International School for at least 10 months.

The crime came to light after the girl’s mother saw blood stains on her clothes while giving her a bath.

In her complaint to the police, the mother said the accused used to take her daughter to the washroom, show her obscene material on his phone and raped her three times in one year.

“My daughter was only six-years-old in class 1 at the time of the incident. He would take her to the washroom, close the door and talk dirty. He used to hit her on the leg with a stick, threatening that if she told anyone, he would kill her family members and would get her expelled from the school.”

The mother further alleged that she saw marks on her leg several times, but her daughter out of fear used to say that she hurt herself while playing.

The girl’s father and uncle have demanded the strictest punishment for the accused.

A medical report further confirmed that the minor had been raped.

Are Kerala gold smuggling gangs moving from the Gulf to Malaysia?

0

Gold smuggling gangs in Kerala who depended on Islamist countries in the Gulf are now allegedly switching their illegal operations to another Muslim country. Experts concur that Malaysia is the new favorite base for the Kerala gold smuggling mafia. There has been a huge increase in the smuggling of gold from Malaysia using women in recent times. Women from Malaysia smuggle gold in this way to some agents in Kerala.

In the last month, 4.3 kg of gold was seized at Nedumbassery International Airport in Kochi while it was being smuggled from Malaysia. This gold is worth Rs 2.13 crore. Women are the main traffickers from Malaysia compared to the Gulf. It is said that this new move of the gold smuggling group is after the gold smugglers from the Gulf countries have been caught regularly.

The majority of carriers in Kerala who smuggle gold are women. Lady carriers made up 13 out of the 17 people who were detained at the Nedumbassery airport this month for attempting to smuggle gold. In barely two weeks, the customs seized 8.472 kilograms of gold, valued at 4.4 crore rupees. The customs seized 8.472 kg of gold worth 4.4 crore rupees in just two weeks. Of this, 1.721 kg was left on the plane. 4.308 kg of gold was from Malaysia

While gold is brought from the Gulf in molten or solid form (bars), it is brought from Malaysia as ornaments. The jewelry brought in this way is sold at a higher price in the Kerala market and carries an added incentive to the smuggling mafia.

Comparing the value of the Bharatiya rupee with the Malaysian ringgit, one kg of gold has a profit of four lakh rupees. Another attraction for the gold smuggling gang is that flight ticket prices from Malaysia to Kochi are also very cheap compared to the Gulf countries. Women who become carriers to transport gold are often paid up to Rs.40,000. Apart from this, smugglers also provide two-way air tickets to Kerala.

Can sadhus eat meat?

On Sadhus eating meat… and on Swami Vivekananda not being from ‘right parampara’

Our tradition has all the answers to the age old questions but truth needs to reinstated all the time so that falsehood does not overpower even temporarily. So here it is.

It is funny to see how people believe Shri Amogh Lila Ji of ISKCON as an authority on Swami Vivekananda, but at the same time doubt Swami Ji for ‘not being from a traditional sampradaya’.

First of all that is wrong. He was from a traditional samparadaya, and brought no revolution. He was bringing in Hindu renaissance, to bring back the lost glory of once glorious tradition. He was not inventing anything radically new.

Secondly, if you value traditional sampradayas, it is Swami Ji whom we need to put our shraddha in more.

About the meat eating issue, I will hardly be saying something new now by reiterating that our tradition is very diverse, and just like it is unthinkable for a Madhva or a Gaudiya Vaishnava to eat meat, it is as dharmic and essential for a Shakta to have meat in prasada.

Neither should Vaishnavas have to eat meat to prove they are good Hindus, nor should Shaktas need to abandon it to prove the same.

Why can’t both traditions be as valid? Why can’t you support Shaktas eating meat while being a vegetarian yourself? I am a vegetarian who has never ever tasted meat, and personally for me, it is something unthinkable.

At the same time, I have not the slightest of doubt that it is something essential and centrally dharmic for all Shaktas and any other tradition inside Hindu/Sanatana dharma which has a pratha towards it.

It is not that hard to support others’ paddhati, while having an entirely different paddhati yourself.

For a great sadhu or jnani eating meat, let me say that Shri Nisargadattha Maharaja, who was a jivanmukta, a jnani used to eat meat too whenever it came before him.

As he was above any lipta karma, none of that attached to his real Self, whether it was meat or just vegetarian food. He objected to no food and ate whatever came his way, like a real sadhu.

Anyone who thinks this is dichotomous needs to study our tradition which is full of examples like this; not just avataras, or kings, and just any sadhus, but even jivanmuktas doing the same.

I hope we are saner than this, especially when attack on our bali traditions are going to mount many times more in future.

Every Vaishnava, Shaiva, Ganpatya and any other sect needs now to stand behind the Shakta right to give bali and to eat meat as prasada. This is one of those times to have that umbrella Hindu identity. Let us do that.

Let us prove our great tradition, our great Hindu/Sanatana dharma is above all of this.

Guru Kripa Hi Kevalam.

Trinamool confidante bizman & channel owner Kaustav Roy arrested by ED

0

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Kolkata-based businessman and the chief executive officer (CEO) of a popular Bengal news channel Kaustav Roy, known for his close association with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on charges of financial defalcation.

Sources said that Roy was summoned to ED’s office at Central Government Office (CGO complex at Salt Lake in the northern outskirts of Kolkata on Monday morning. However, he finally reached the central agency office at around 4 p.m. and after a marathon interrogation for around ten hours he was finally arrested by the ED sleuths at around 2 a.m.

Trinamool Congress leadership, however, has so far maintained total silence over the arrest of Roy, whose businesses and news channel had been under the ED scanner for quite some time.

In August last year, two teams of ED and the Income Tax departments conducted simultaneous raid and search operations at the residence and offices of Roy. At that point of time the chief minister described the central agency actions as a ploy by BJP and the Union government to gag the media.

Roy was in the midst of a controversy in May last year, after the state government formed a committee for planning and monitoring of welfare and development schemes and made Roy, with a debated background, as the chairman of the committee. However, later his name was scrapped after the- then state governor and the current Indian vice president, Jagdeep Dhankhar questioned the justification of Roy’s appointment for that crucial chair.

Roy, the Kolkata- based businessman, had been involved in multiple sectors like computer, software and media.

In March 2018, he, as the director of RP Infosystems, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a Rs 515 crore bank fraud scam involving a consortium of banks, including Punjab National Bank and Canara Bank.

In September 2021, a Bengali channel owned by Roy, received a caution of cancellation of license from the Union ministry of Information & Broadcasting citing the Union ministry of home affairs’ denial of “security clearance”.
