Bharat’s role in G 20: A bridge between East and West

(The image of India presented to the world during the current G 20 summit shall have far-reaching and positive consequences. It will boost tourism and create new employment opportunities for Indians, both within the country and abroad. Foreign companies will establish new industries here, and new technologies will be developed. Infrastructure development will be accelerated. Those Indians working and living abroad must have experienced a boost in their reputation.)

G20, or the Group of Twenty, is an organization primarily focused on providing economic cooperation and coordination among twenty countries. The G20 represents a group of twenty nations that come together once a year for a summit, where they discuss global economic issues as well as topics such as climate change, sustainable development, health, agriculture, energy, anti-corruption efforts, and the environment.

This time, India had the proud opportunity to host and chair this group. The summit took place in Delhi, the capital of India, from September 9th to 10th. This event provided India with an opportunity to strengthen its trade relations with the member countries and address a wide range of economic issues. According to experts, G20 plays a strategic role in achieving global economic growth and prosperity. It can potentially attract significant investment in India’s infrastructure sector, which is expected to boost our economic prospects.

Chairing the G20 is positioning India as a prominent and important member on the global stage. The countries that participated in the G20 were: Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The European Union was also involved as the 20th member. This time, the African Union was included to further expand and globalize the group.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was the current chairman of the summit, announced the conclusion of the summit on Sunday. He expressed gratitude to the countries participating in the summit for their active involvement in the discussions and emphasized the importance of the “One Earth, One Family, One Future” roadmap. During the summit, Prime Minister Modi also recited a Sanskrit verse related to the wish for peace and happiness in the world. Leaders from around the world, including President Joe Biden of the United States, praised India’s chairmanship. The G20 summit had a total of three sessions. Two sessions, “One Earth” and “One Family,” were held on Saturday, and one session, “One Future,” took place on Sunday.

In the history of the G20, India’s chairmanship of the summit this time has been the most ambitious and action-oriented. Each nation endorsed the common call for respect for each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Compared to the previous G20 summit held in Indonesia, this year’s summit was more than double in terms of its significance and outcome.

The image of India presented to the world during this summit shall have far-reaching and positive consequences. It will boost tourism and create new employment opportunities for Indians, both within the country and abroad. Foreign companies will establish new industries here, and new technologies will be developed. Infrastructure development will be accelerated. Those Indians working and living abroad will see a boost in their reputation.
