Bangladesh: Attack on the Kali Mata temple in Sirajganj, locals caught Muhammad Mahmudul

Hindu temples are not safe in Muslim-majority Bangladesh. Almost every day, the Hindu temple comes under attack. Now, a fresh case has been reported from the Sirajganj district of Bangladesh.

According to the reports, on the night of the 20th of March, a Muslim youth attacked the Kali Mata temple in Hatkhola village under the Shiyalkol union of Sirajganj district. Armed with a sharp weapon, the Muslim youth tried to break the Kali Mata Murti.

A local Hindu said, “The Muslim youth broke the lock of the temple door. Then, in a rage, he started to hit the Murti of Kali Mata repeatedly. As he was armed,  we initially didn’t dare to stop him. Later, others came, and we were able to catch him.”

The Muslim youth has been identified as Muhammad Mahmudul. Later, local Hindus handed him to the Sirajganj Police.
