8th International Ganesh Festival – Bangkok 2026 Celebrates Devotion, Culture and Community Seva

The 8th International Ganesh Festival – Bangkok 2026 concluded successfully on 19–20 September at the India-Thai Chamber of Commerce (ITCC) Function Hall, Sathorn Soi 1, Bangkok. The two-day celebration brought together devotees, community leaders, distinguished guests, cultural performers and well-wishers for a meaningful celebration of devotion, cultural exchange, community service and Bharat–Thailand friendship.

Organised under the leadership of Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Founder and President of Thai Indian Community (TIC) and Founder of Sanjay Kumar Media (SKM), the festival received enthusiastic support from the Thai and Bharatiya communities in Thailand. Approximately 1,000 people participated over the two days, making the festival a significant community gathering centred on faith, compassion, cultural heritage and the spirit of Seva.

A Celebration of Devotion and Cultural Heritage

The first day commenced with traditional Ganesh Puja and devotional rituals, led by Shree Pawan Mishra, CEO of Indo Thai News. The ceremonies were followed by Aarti, Prasad distribution and special pujas performed by distinguished guests and community representatives.

The programme featured Hari Kirtan, an on-site painting competition, the opening ceremony and awards presentation, and a vibrant showcase of devotional music and cultural performances. Aarti and Prasad remained integral to the celebrations, bringing devotees together in prayer, gratitude and the sharing of blessings.

A special highlight of the opening ceremony was the collective recital of the complete Vande Mataram, presented with due protocol. The occasion carried particular significance as 2026 marks 150 years of Vande Mataram, the iconic national song that inspired generations during Bharat’s freedom movement and continues to symbolise national unity and collective spirit.

More than 150 performers, including young artists, participated in the opening celebrations. In recognition of their enthusiasm and contribution, the performers received gifts and goodies, celebrating the importance of encouraging young talent and keeping cultural traditions alive.

The festival welcomed several distinguished guests, spiritual leaders and community representatives whose presence reflected the strong support of spiritual, business and community leaders for initiatives that strengthen cultural understanding and people-to-people ties between Thailand and Bharat.

Community Seva: Turning Devotion into Compassionate Action

The second day placed a special emphasis on Seva — selfless service and care for society. Shree Rajesh Menon, CEO & Managing Director of Emmar International, led the Ganesh rituals and joined partners, sponsors and community members in the festival’s community service initiatives.

As part of the Seva programme, essential rice and food supplies were distributed to 200 families in need. The initiative also extended support to bedridden individuals who were unable to attend the festival, ensuring that the spirit of Ganesh Chaturthi reached people beyond the event venue.

In another meaningful initiative, assistance was extended to 200 resident students at a school for the blind and students of Thungmahamek School for the Deaf and Dumb. These activities were coordinated with support from the Sathorn District Office, reflecting the importance of collaboration between community organisations and local authorities in reaching those who need support.

The Seva initiative reaffirmed the festival’s guiding belief that devotion becomes even more meaningful when translated into compassion, inclusion and practical action for the well-being of others.

A Meaningful Conclusion with Ganesh Visarjan

The two-day celebration concluded with the traditional farewell rituals and a Ganesh procession, followed by the Ganesh Visarjan Ceremony at Wat Pariwat, Rama 3 Road.

The final ceremonies offered devotees an opportunity to express gratitude, seek the blessings of Bhagwan Ganesha and pray for peace, prosperity, harmony and the well-being of people around the world.

Gratitude to Partners, Supporters and the Community

The organisers expressed their heartfelt appreciation to all distinguished guests, spiritual leaders, volunteers, performers, participants, partners, sponsors and well-wishers whose generous support contributed to the success of the festival.

Special appreciation was extended to the festival’s partners and supporters, including Indo Thai News, Brasten Group and Emmar International, along with the many organisations and individuals who contributed their time, resources and goodwill.

The organisers also acknowledged the valuable coordination support of the Sathorn District Office and the collective efforts of the Thai and Bharatiya communities in making the festival a celebration of shared values, friendship and service.

The festival received extensive media attention, with coverage across Thailand, Bharat and Bangladesh, reflecting growing interest in the annual celebration and its contribution to cultural exchange and community engagement.

Continuing the Tradition of Devotion and Seva

The 8th International Ganesh Festival – Bangkok 2026 reinforced a message that extends beyond religious observance: devotion can unite people, culture can build bridges, and Seva can make a meaningful difference in society.

Reflecting on the festival’s purpose, Dr. Sanjay Kumar shared:

“Seva is not just an activity — it is an expression of compassion, humanity and our shared responsibility towards society.”

Since its inception, the festival has continued to bring people together through faith, cultural heritage and community service, welcoming participation and support from across the Thai and Bharatiya communities.

The 9th International Ganesh Festival – Bangkok is scheduled to take place on 4–5 September 2027, continuing this tradition of devotion, culture, Seva and friendship between Thailand and Bharat.
