Malayali nurses from Israel narrate Hamas’s horror stories

Two Malayali nurses escaped terrorist clutches in Israel. Meera, a native of Kottayam, and Sabita, from Kannur, are the lucky ones who escaped from an area where Hamas terrorists killed more than 200 people innocent citizens. They narrated horror stories when they stood at gunpoint for hours.

From the video, they shared on YouTube:

Meera and Sabita said they worked at Kibbutz Nir Oz on Israel’s Gaza border. Kibbutz Nir Oz was wholly destroyed in the 7th October Saturday’s attack. (Dozens of Nir Oz residents were murdered, and dozens more were taken hostage during the assault.) Now, we live in a care home with elderly people.

Hamas terrorists attacked Nir Oz at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. They killed many people in the Kibbutz. They took many people (as hostages), including children. There were about 400 people in our community. Only 200 of them are left.

Nir Oz is only two kilometers from Gaza to where we were staying. We have two people (nurses) to look after the patient who is on a ventilator and works in three shifts. A shift ends at 6 a.m. Meera arrived for duty when I was about to get off duty. That is when the sirens sounded.

Hearing this, we entered the room and waited. (There are security rooms). At half past seven, I heard someone smashing the door. The patient’s daughter, who had come online by then, helped us. We did everything according to their instructions.

From 7:30 in the morning to 1:00 in the afternoon, we were fighting with the terrorists. They were trying to open the door from outside, and we did everything we could to keep it from opening.

We recited all known prayers. We stayed there till 7 pm. By then, it was understood that the Israeli army had arrived at Kibbutz. There were noises outside. But I didn’t know what was going on.

When we came out, we realized that the house was utterly destroyed. They (Hamas terrorists) took everything away. (Eyewitnesses saw Islamist terrorists walking with their loot, bulging suitcases, televisions, and even electric wagons used by elders.) Anything that could not be carried away was destroyed.

Even Meera’s passport was taken. They also took the prepared emergency bag containing gold and money. (Apparently, such small backpacks are a part of life in this part of the world.)

There were five houses near where we lived. There is not a single person in those houses now. Many were killed, and some were kidnapped. I did not think I could see my home country (Bharat) again.

Two lives (patients) were entrusted to us, and we thought we had to protect their lives, too. Then, the army appeared outside. We started crying. It is the army. We have come to rescue you. Someone said in English to open the door.

Then, the patient’s daughter said it was not the army, and we should not open the door. It was not the army. Later, extreme cruelty was seen. They cut the throats of several men. We are unsafe and will stay here until the Israeli government tells us to leave. Meera and Sabitha said.

(It is not known precisely how the ladies from Kerala escaped the conflict zone. Are they safe now? Are they mere pawns in land jihad?)

Successive Kerala governments have encouraged young women to learn nursing, knowing that these ladies will become fodder during conflicts and war. Still, the authorities shamelessly prompt youngsters to borrow money and become nurses. Many get caught up in conflicts but prefer to stay, considering the broken homes and financial burden back home.

Though many nurses prefer ‘safe’ Europe, they end up in terrorism-ridden countries. While the Europeans, America, Canada, and Australia prefer Keralite Christians, Hindu ladies are the ones who suffer in Islamist countries. Wage imparities and discrimination, too, exist.
