After facing severe criticism for lying that Manu Smriti calls women ‘prostitutes’, DMK ally MP Thirumavalavan has now said that all Brahmins of Uttar Pradesh are ‘rowdies’. He made the comment with reference to the Lakhimpur incident.
While speaking at an event organised to condemn the Lakhimpur incident, VCK chief and Chidambaram MP Thol.Thirumavalavan said, “If someone has Pandit as a prefix or suffix of his name in Kashmir then he is a Kashmir pappan(slur for Brahmins). Those who have Mishra as their surname are Uttar Pradesh pappans. Like my comrade Ravikumar said, Bhumihars also wanted to be pappans and declared themselves as Brahmins.”
He made a sweeping statement about Bhumihars and Mishras commenting that “Now those who belong to that caste(Bhumihars) own lands and are the anti-social elements and rowdies (of the state).. their past has been like that. So in the case of Uttar Pradesh, Brahmins are the rowdies..it is these Mishras (who are the rowdies).. isn’t it shocking?”.
Recently when VCK members in Salem district decided to install a new party flagpole in front of the municipality office, police had denied permission. But
VCK cadres went ahead with the plan and installed the flagpole violating the rules and going against police warning. In the past he had purposefully misinterpreted Manu Smriti and said that it says all women are prostitutes.
In a civil services coaching centre lecture, Thirumavalavan had taught the aspirants that all the 50.5% of the Open Category vacancies/seats are taken up only by Brahmins. Thirumavalavan often abuses Brahmins in the name of opposing Sanatana Dharma. He had organised a conference to “Uproot Sanatana Dharma” in 2020. He had also admitted in an interview that he “follows Christianity” and his family “participates in Christian functions”.
