Maha Cong leader Nana Patole’s Hinduphobic remark: “Even Ravan was wearing saffron while abducting Sita ji”

Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole displayed his Hinduphobic side yet again. In his attempt to target UP CM Yogi Adityanath, he used the anecdote of Ravana wearing ‘saffron robes’ to abduct Maa Sita. He further remarked that CM Yogi was supporting ‘wrong policies’ while donning saffron.

Patole further accused the UP CM of remaining silent even as China’s land was being ‘grabbed’. He said that only because of Manmohan Singh’s Food Security Scheme was PM Modi able to distribute food grains in the last decade. He levelled accusations of adulteration, stating that plastic rice from China was being mixed with the rice distributed by the government.

“Why do Congress leaders repeatedly insult Hindu Dharm and use derogatory language for our Dharma? They associate saffron with ‘terrorism’, speak ill of Bhagwa,” questioned BJP MLA Ram Kadam. Kadam added that Congress is unable to face the Modi wave and they are trying appeasement tactics as they know they will be decisively defeated in the ongoing Loksabha elections.

One fails to understand the need to bring up saffron in unrelated political issues. But such Hinduphobic remarks are to be expected from Congress that unsuccessfully tried to raise the bogey of ‘saffron terror.’ Patole had recently made another anti-Hindu remark in the garb of targeting PM Modi.

Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole courted controversy through his statement on ‘suddhikaran’ (purification) of Sri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He said the ‘suddhikaran’ would be done through the four Shankaracharyas.

In June 2023, Patole claimed that the RDX for the Pulwama attack came from Nagpur. In other words, he was blaming the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) for the attack, which is headquartered in Nagpur, though he cleverly refrained from taking names. Congress has sought to create a ‘Hindu terror’ narrative by making unsubstantiated allegations against the Sangh Parivar. Congress had sought to blame the RSS for the 26/11 terror attack that had been carried out by Pakistan.

Congress speaking of Dharma would have been hilarious if not tragic. Rahul Gandhi undertakes temple runs only during election time. Moreover, the party leaders refused to attend the Pran Pratishtha despite getting invites from the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust. Patole’s statement is nothing but an attempt to grab some ‘Hindu votes’ and appear pro-Hindu.
