Cong Maha LoP Vijay Wadettiwar’s Pak love: says not Kasab, RSS-linked cop killed Karkare; gets backing of Tharoor

Maharashtra Congress Leader of Opposition (LoP) Vijay Wadettiwar bared his Hinduphobic fangs and displayed his Pakistan love by giving a new spin to Police Officer Hemant Karkare’s death.

Vijay Wadettiwar gives ‘clean chit’ to Kasab

Maharashtra LoP Vijay Wadettiwar claimed that ATS chief Karkare was not killed by Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab but by a cop affiliated with RSS. Wadettiwar was targeting Mumbai North Central BJP candidate Ujjwal Nikam, who ensured the death sentence for Kasab.

“Hemant Karkare was not killed by Kasab or any terrorist but by a cop linked with RSS. Ujjwal Nikam is an anti-national who tried to hide that truth. BJP has given the ticket to Nikam. The question arises if it is a party that backs anti-nationals,” Wadettiwar said.

In an attempt to damage control, Wadettiwar justified his controversial remarks stating that they were based on the contents of SM Mushrif’s book Who Killed Karkare. “I was merely quoting SM Mushrif’s book. The details are fully covered there. It suggests that the bullet that killed Hemant Karkare did not come from a terrorist,” he explained. SM Mushrif, the author of the book and a former Inspector General of Police, is also the brother of Hasan Mushrif, a Maharashtra Minister and leader in the Nationalist Congress Party.

In his defence, Wadettiwar referenced the book’s claims about Karkare’s death. “According to SM Mushrif’s investigation, Hemant Karkare was not killed by a terrorist’s bullet. This fact has not been highlighted by prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. Mushrif’s findings suggest that the bullet was not from terrorists. Considering these assertions, executing Ajmal Kasab was not a significant legal challenge; any average or junior lawyer could have managed it,” he stated.

Not surprisingly, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor backed Wadettiwar. “The matter is extremely serious. Our concern is that when the LoP points to something that is an allegation that has been in the public domain for some time and which featured in a book by the former IG of police, SM Mushrif, who said that the bullets found in Karkare’s body could not have been fired by Ajmal Kasab and that it could have been fired by a police revolver,” Shashi Tharoor said.

Congress and its INDI alliance parties are known for their anti-national stance. Congress has been trying to prove that the 26/11 terror attack is an ‘RSS conspiracy’ and create a ‘Hindu terror’ narrative by making unsubstantiated allegations against the Sangh Parivar. Hence, it keeps coming up with such unsubstantiated claims. In a similar Hinduphobic anti-national stance, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole made a sensational claim last April regarding the explosive material used in the Pulwama attack. Patole claimed that the RDX for the Pulwama attack was sent from Nagpur. In other words, he was blaming the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) for the attack, which is headquartered in Nagpur, though he cleverly refrained from taking names.

“Congress can stoop to any level to please and get its special vote bank. Senior leader of Maharashtra Congress and LoP Vijay Wadettiwar proved this by giving a clean chit to the terrorists of 26/11. According to him, Kasab did not shoot at martyr Hemant Karkare ji. Did Congress not feel ashamed at all while supporting the terrorists? Today the whole country has also come to know why prayers are being offered in Pakistan for the victory of Congress and the prince,” BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde said.

For Congress, vote bank politics is above everything. Therefore, Wadettiwar’s statement is in keeping with his party’s appeasement policies. No wonder Congress gets support from Pakistan, with the former Pakistan minister praising Rahul Gandhi.
