Today, West Bengal Police stopped the trailer launch of Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Bengal Files’. Film maker Vivek Agnihotri also alleged that the workers of a certain political party have stormed into the venue and created chaos.
Earlier, the trailer launch was scheduled at a reputed Cinema Hall in Kolkata. But, at the last moment, the company that owns the Cinema Chain cancelled the event citing threat from the certain quarters.
After that, film maker Vivek Agnihotri announced to launch the trailer of his film in the conference Hall in a reputed hotel.
But, as the trailer launch event started, some people of a certain political party stormed into the venue. The Police also in large numbers entered inside the hall. The trailer launch has been stopped.
Meanwhile, film maker Vivek Agnihotri criticised the move by the police. He said, “The film has received all the certifications from the relevant authorities. Also, the Censor Board has cleared the movie. But, it’s unfortunate to see that the police have to stop the trailer launch of the film by force.”
Earlier, several FIRs were filed against film maker Vivek Agnihotri and his upcoming film ‘The Bengal Files’. The film is based on the ‘Direct Action Day’ and ‘Great Calcutta Killing’, orchestrated by the Muslim League in 1946. The film also highlighted the role of the Gopal Mukherjee, popularly known as Gopal Patha. The film will be released on the 5th of September in cinemas.

This is quite unfortunate. But the cat is already out of the bag! People now will watch the film on their mobiles. Can Kolkata Police prevent it?
