Police officer arrested for running drug cartel in Kerala

Recent arrests in Kerala have revealed that a policeman named MJ Shanavas from Idukki was reportedly stealing confiscated drugs and selling them. Trafficking of dangerous drugs like MDMA has become rampant in the state. The officials supposed to curb drug mafias are suspected of being complicit in it and ruining the younger generation.

MJ Shanavas (33), a civil police officer (CPO) attached to the Idukki Armed Reserve (AO) camp, was arrested with the deadly drug MDMA and cannabis. His friend and drug runner Shamnas Shaji, who came to collect drugs from the policeman, was also detained by the Excise department. They were under surveillance after detectives received specifics from informers.

Excise officials confronted them when they were exchanging the contraband inside Shanavas’s car. Though the criminals tried to run, officers subdued them, confiscating the vehicle and Shamnas’s two-wheeler.

As per local BJP leaders, Shanavas is also the leader of the left-leaning police association. Some officials in the AR camp alleged he was handing over confiscated drugs stored at AR camp to other police officials outside the camp. High-stakes gambling also occurs inside the camp.

When complaints against officers who are leaders of police organizations arise, some higher-ups and communist leaders get involved and overturn them using political interference and influence.

The drug-running policeman and his accomplice were arrested after receiving secret information about drug deals among the police officers. Following this, authorities put some policemen under surveillance. Another shocking piece of information is that Shanavas was behind a vast network involved in MDMA and cannabis sales all over Idukki. Excise officials indicated that certain high-ranking officials helped Shanavas.

AR Camp is supposedly a high-security zone. Drugs seized by the police and excise dept are often kept in a room inside the AR camp, and Shanavas was often in charge of this room! It is alleged that he used this opportunity to steal drugs from here.

Some posts and photographs on social media indicated that Shanavas was among a ‘select few’ chosen by Pinarayi Vijayan to protect Rehana Fathima, the dreaded anarchist, when she attempted to enter Sabarimala Temple in October 2018.

Several Muslim police officers have indulged in crimes in the recent past in Kerala. They have helped their Popular Front of India (PFI) paymasters with information about local RSS leaders under police protection. Such leaks led to the assassination of many RSS workers.

Recent arrests seem to confirm the news about a sleeper cell deeply embedded in Kerala police called the Pacha Velicham or green light. Such officials make sure that Bharat never wins the war against drugs. Pakistan’s ISI pushes drugs into Bharat to destroy our culture and youth. They ensure that even if the drugs are confiscated, officers like Shanavas smuggle them out of custody, guarantee payment to our enemies, and more and more youngsters fall prey.

Investigators became suspicious when two outsiders came to live in Shanavas’s police quarters. Further surveillance led to the arrest of the criminal policeman. Shanavas and his friend Shamnas were produced before the magistrate and remanded till September 3.
