Miffed over a complaint regarding his rude & unprofessional behavior by a woman passenger, Ola cab driver Fahim Akhtar circulated the woman’s number as a call girl on several WhatsApp groups. The woman was forced to shut down her mobile phone after she received innumerable offensive calls.
This disturbing incident occurred in Bareilly, UP and has been reported in several Hindi language outlets like Patrika, LiveHindustan.
The woman, who lives at City Station Road near Punjab National Bank, booked an Ola cab for Phoenix Mall around 9.30 PM on 1st September. She was travelling with her two children and a heavy bag. When the cab reached near Phoenix Mall, Akhtar told her to get down outside the mall. She requested him to drop her at the drop area inside the mall because she had a heavy bag and two small kids, but Akhtar refused to listen and rudely told the woman to get down.
The angered woman complained about his unprofessional behaviour through the Ola Cab App. Shortly afterwards, the woman started receiving several obscene phone calls asking her name. On 2nd September, when the woman angrily challenged one of these callers and threatened to complain to police, the caller told her he found her number in some WhatsApp group where it was given as a call girl’s number by Akhtar.
The woman contacted police higher-ups, and an FIR was registered against Fahim Akhtar under IT Act at behest of Senior Superintendent of Police.
