A Dalit woman from Najibabad, UP has filed a complaint against a group of 7 Muslims for manhandling & hurling casteist slurs at her, and later pelting stones at her home.
Sumitra, a resident of Pathanpura Mohalla in Najibabad, was walking to her home on Saturday night, when Shakeel (son of Sharif Ahmed) abused her using derogatory caste slurs. When Sumitra objected, Shakeel manhandled her.
Later Shakeel and others attacked Sumitra’s home and pelted stones and broke the window panes. Seeing the police arrive, the accused ran away.
Police has lodged a case against Shakeel and 6 others, and are searching for them.

Najibabad falls in Bijnore district of Western UP and borders Uttarakhand – this is a pocket of intense Muslim presence and growth as has been analyzed in the 2011 census article series by Dr. JK Bajaj, one of the leading demographers in Bharat.
Muslim attacks on Dalits and other Hindus of this pocket, which consists of eight districts in the northwest part of UP and the adjoining district of Hardwar in Uttarakhand, are increasingly alarmingly. Muslims now form 41 percent of the population in this pocket and their total number is 1.23 crore.
The severe persecution which Hindus, mostly poor Dalits, face in Muslim majority Pakistan, will likely be repeated in this part of Bharat too in the near future, unless corrective action is taken soon.
