Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is haunted by the ghost of his infamous 2015 statement. After the massive failure of the Thugs of Hindostan, the dangerous possibilities of the financial failure of his upcoming Laal Singh Chaddha have kicked in. Since months before the release of the Bollywood remake of Forrest Grump, netizens have been trending “Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha.”

Though movie makers and actors don’t look at the commoners as respectable people and give no value to their emotions and faith, this time, the boycott campaign for Laal Singh Chaddha seems to have gotten to the actor. While addressing journalists during a meeting, the actor urged the viewers not to boycott his film.

“I feel sad that some of the people who are saying this, in their hearts, believe that I am someone who doesn’t like India. In their hearts, they believe, but it is untrue. I really love the country… That’s how I am. It is rather unfortunate that some people feel that way… Please don’t boycott my film. Please watch my film,” he said.

But the movie-goers’ opinion about Aamir Khan not liking the country is not unfounded. The infamous and highly debated statement made by the actor back in 2015 is not forgotten by the citizens of this country. Training the gun on the reigning BJP government, he had stated, “As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can’t deny it. I have been alarmed by several incidents.”

His worst statement was, “When I chat with Kiran at home, she says, ‘Should we move out of India?’ That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears what the atmosphere around us will be… That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from alarm. You feel why this is happening, you feel low. That sense does exist in me.”

Aamir Khan continued making one disastrous statement after another about the entire country. What gradually followed this episode proved to be further detrimental for the actor.

The Hindus awakened to the fact that the Muslim actor brutally mocked Hindu traditions and belittled Hindu gods in his successful movie, PK. Through this film, he also promoted the idea of love jihad as his character advocated for a Hindu Bharatiya girl’s romantic affiliation with a Pakistani Muslim man.

“Why is this equation never the other way round? Why is it never a Hindu man with a Muslim woman?” questioned netizens. The appalling scene of a malnourished debilitated caricature of Bhagwan Shiv being ambushed by PK and then the run and chases between the two still enrage the Hindu audience. The writer-Director of PK, Rajkumar Hirani is equally responsible for the Hinduphobic film.

Commoners also realized that Aamir Khan had repeatedly attacked Hindu traditions through his talk show, “Satyamev Jayate”. Something as harmless as the festival of Rakshabandhan was also targeted by “Satyamev Jayate”. On the contrary, the Islamic pre-medieval practices like Triple Talaq, female genital mutilation, multiple marriages, and marriages of minorities had never triggered the Muslim actor. He had not dedicated any episode to these evil societal practices. 

Aamir Khan trivializes Hindu religious sentiments and then throws stones at the “shaitan” during his Mecca visit. 

His meeting with the First Lady of Turkey Emine Erdogan in 2020 during the shoot of Laal Singh Chaddha didn’t sit well with the people of Bharat. This meeting was held when Turkey made its pro-Pakistan stand clear after the scrapping of Article 370 in Kashmir. The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had stated that they would support Pakistan’s stand on the Kashmir issue.

Further, it also came to light that back in 2006, Aamir Khan had joined Medha Patkar and opposed the Gujarat government’s decision to increase the height of the Narmada Dam. This development work was supposed to provide drinking and irrigation water to the people of the arid areas of Saurashtra, Kutch, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.

Kareena Kapoor, who is part of the cast, is equally arrogant. Having named her sons after mass murderers of the Hindus, the actress repeatedly exposed her inconsideration for the Hindu masses through her interviews. 

While discussing nepotism in Bollywood with Barkha Dutt, Kareena blamed the viewers. The condescending tone in which she said, “No one’s forcing you to watch our movie, please don’t watch,” had rightfully irked the people.

Recently she was asked about the trend of Boycott Laal Sigh Chanddha. In her response, she exhibited her innate smugness. She complained that now everyone has access to a platform and is putting forth their views. The fact that ordinary people now have a voice is not sitting well with the actress with fame and money served to her on a platter with zero effort. She is confident that the opinion of the commoners won’t hamper a “good film”. 

Both the lead actors of Laal Singh Chaddha have plummeted from their star status. None, except their PR companies or magazines dedicated to Bollywood tomfoolery, cares about these have-been “stars.”

The people will decide the fate of the film upon its release. We will have to wait and see if Bharatiyas and awakened Hindus fall for Aamir Khan’s antics or give a befitting reply to him and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s arrogance.
