From Communal Violence Bill to destroying Sanatana Dharma, what the new Karnataka CM could have in store for Hindus?

Siddaramaiah took oath as the CM of Karnataka on May 18 and his cabinet of ministers are to follow suit in a few days. While many reasons are attributed to the loss of the BJP and a clear mandate to Congress, what is done is done. With the anti-Hindu Congress and a Hindu hater Siddaramaiah as the CM, Hindus must get prepared for what is ahead to face the blows head-on.

It is to be united that when there was confusion about who among Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar should get the top job, some speculated that even though DK Shivakumar showed his mettle by winning the election for the national party, the high command will give the responsibility to Siddaramaiah owing to his ‘clarity’ on anti-Hindu policies. He has proven them right by already talking about editing school textbooks, banning Hindu outfits like Bajrang Dal and reversing the anti-cow slaughter law amendment. In fact, he assured his vote bank that anti-conversion and anti-cow slaughter laws will be repealed if Congress comes to power.

What more should Hindus expect from Congress and Siddaramaiah?

The Communal Violence Bill

During his last term as CM, Siddaramaiah passed the anti-superstition bill which targeted Hindu practices like madde snana. As his ministers have already assured that Hindu outfits like Bajrang Dal will be banned, they could also bring a new legislation to deceptively enforce the Communal Violence Bill(CVB). UPA tried to pass the bill in its last days in 2014, but fortunately, it didn’t see the light.

The bill defined people who could be targeted by communal violence as “a religious or linguistic minority, in any state in the Union of India, or Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST)”. Initially, linguistic minorities were not included which means the bill exclusively targeted Hindus, the only remaining community as perpetrators. The bill gave powers to the centre to even dismiss a state government.

Both bills were pushed by the so-called civil society which is infested with anti-Hindus and Breaking Bharat forces. As UPA failed to pass CVB, these anti-Hindus latched on to the newly formed government in Rajasthan and passed the same bill with different names, Rajasthan Protection from Lynching Bill and Anti Honour Killing Bill.

The bill defined a ‘mob’ as a group of two or more individuals. Lynching was defined as “an act or series of acts of violence or those of aiding, abetting or attempting an act of violence, whether spontaneous or preplanned, by a mob on the grounds of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth, language, dietary practices, sexual orientation, political affiliation or ethnicity.

It was designed to target Hindus who took the law into their own hands when the state failed to act in cases of grooming jihad, cow theft and forced religious conversion. Gau rakshaks were the main target of the anti-mob lynching bill. However, the fate of these bills is unknown as the centre returned them to the state government seeking clarifications. So one could expect Siddaramaiah to pass the same bills considering he is influenced by ‘civil society’ as much as the Congress high command.

Banning Hindu Outfits

Congress had promised to ban Bajrang Dal once it came to power. Congress working president Ramalinga Reddy said that the state cannot ban an organisation, but it will recommend the centre to ban the outfit. Minister Priyank Kharge said to the media, “If peace is disturbed, we won’t consider if it is Bajrang Dal or any other Sangh Parivar outfit”. It should be kept in mind that even if Congress can’t ban the outfits it can make the lives of Hindu activists hell.

For example, Hindu activists underwent police torture in Puttur after they were booked for posting condolence messages for BJP leaders. It is alleged that it was done at the behest of Nalin Kumar Kateel who contested on a BJP ticket but lost due to a rival from his party contesting against him. Victims were released after Acting CM Bommai intervened but it shows what Congress can do if one considers Priyank Kharge’s words carefully. It also gives a free hand to violent elements in society to freely attack Hindus. Recently, Hindu Jana Jagruti spokesperson Mohan Gowda posted on Twitter that “two Hindu activists were killed by jihadis” days after Congress’s victory in the assembly election.

Pushing Ideology in Textbooks

CM Siddaramaiah himself has promised to revise school textbooks saying, “Act of polluting children’s minds through texts and lessons cannot be condoned”. He assured the media that it will be done next year as the academic year has already started. Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi on the other hand said, “It is true that the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government had introduced some unnecessary and irrelevant material in textbooks in the name of revising them. They can have a long-term negative impact on young minds. All such elements will be removed from textbooks”.

One of his public speeches where he said that ‘Hindu’ is a ‘vulgar’ word and does not have its origins in Bharat went viral on social media after it came to be known that he would be sworn in as a minister. Requests have been made to scrap the National Education Policy(NEP) as well and the Congress government is thinking about it.

Repealing Anti-Cow Slaughter & Conversion Laws

Congress promised to repeal the stringent anti-cow slaughter law passed by the BJP government and scrap The Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Act in its manifesto and has been consistent about its plans for the same after winning. Amnesty International, whose properties were attached and bank accounts were frozen by the Enforcement Directorate for violating the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act(FCRA), publicly demanded on Twitter that the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act and the Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill should be repealed.

It is no secret that Congress sucks up to minorities, and especially gives preferential treatment to Christians. Considering its track record Amnesty’s and countless evangelists’ wishes would be fulfilled.

Clamp Down On Media

Congress is infamous for curbing free speech and the legendary Section 66A of the IT Act. During his previous tenure in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah had used it to arrest Mahesh Hegde who ran a pro-Hindu portal Post Card News. He was arrested based on a complaint from one Gaffar Baig, the General Secretary Bengaluru District Congress Committee. Post Card News raised issues related to misgovernance, break-down of law & order and corruption in Karnataka under the Congress regime.

Mahesh was booked allegedly on the charge of sharing fake information about the accident of a Jain muni. Even before a week into office, Siddaramaiah ordered the police department to initiate “ruthless action” against “provocative posts” on social media. On the day of his swearing-in, a government teacher who criticised him on Facebook was suspended.

Separate Religion Status for Hindu Sects

While political parties use the caste divide in general, Congress uses the religious divide by wooing those who would vote en bloc. After milking what it could from Abrahamists, Congress tried to create a new religion to win the 2018 state election in Karnataka. It unleashed its moles in Lingayat and Veer Saiva sects on the unsuspecting Shaivites of Karnataka to demand separate religious status to divide Hindus.

Even though it has secured a clear mandate now, Congress could not be relied on to not pursue this mission as its ultimate goal is to destroy Hindu Dharma. The offer would be attractive enough for the sects considering the myriad ways in which the secular state harasses Hindus whether it be the Right To Education Act or taking over temples and mathas under government control.

Temples and Mathas Under State Control

Every political party has its eyes on the wealth held and generated by Hindu temples and mathas. For a party that treats Hindus as second-class citizens and tramples on their rights at every turn, it would be an ultimate goal as it breaks the back of Hindu society both from economic and dharmic perspectives. Siddaramaiah being the rabid anti-Hindu he is, tried to bring the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Bill in 2014.

It was dropped at the last moment after local leaders fearing loss of vote bank reached out to the high command to restrain Siddaramaiah. With many seers openly talking about religious issues and supporting BJP in some cases, Siddaramaiah might be even more determined this time.

Normalising Anti-Hindu Hatred

Siddaramaiah had proudly statedI like eating beef. I know I’m a Hindu. But I will eat beef if I want to. Who are you to tell me not to?”. While speaking about anti-Hindu activist and journalist Gauri Lankesh, he said “Sanatana Dharma members murdered Gauri Lankesh”. He seems to have learnt to use the word Sanatana instead of Hindu from Dravidianists to fool ordinary Hindus to target Hindu Dharma. From a party that coined the term Hindu Terror mocking and deriding Hindu Dharma and its beliefs is habitual.

Vanquishing Sanatan Dharma

Usually, it is DMK and its allies that openly speak about destroying Sanatana Dharma. But Congress has caught up as well with P Chidambaram saying that “Sanatana Dharma is a toxic ideology”. Thol Thirumavalavan, an ally of DMK and Congress who organised the ‘Uproot Sanatana Dharma’ conference in 2017, felicitated Siddaramaiah with an award on his party’s behalf.

In the award function to Siddaramiah’s glee, he said, “It has become essential to join hands with Congress at the national level to defeat Sanatana forces. Siddaramaiah is a leader who has dedicated himself to work for social justice. If he becomes the PM Santana forces will never be able to rear their heads again”. Now that he has been sworn in as the CM, he might prove his mettle in Congress’ efforts to vanquish Sanatana Dharma.

Other issues of reversing the hijab ban, exposing Hindu girls to more of The Kerala Story like brainwashing, and installing a 114 ft statue of Jesus statue in Kapali Beta which Kannadigas fear will soon become Yeshu Beta thanks to rampant conversion also are of concern. DK Shiva Kumar, the current Deputy CM was “instrumental in facilitating the allotment of the land, which in Revenue Department records was earmarked as “gomala”, or pasture for cattle and part of the village commons” when he was a minister in the previous Congress regime.
