Dada Patil College principal Nagarkar reprimands students for Jai Sri Ram slogan & Nagar police threaten them with tadipari: Maharashtra

Students of Dada Patil College were reprimanded and punished by Principal Sanjay Nagarkar simply because they chanted Jai Shri Ram. Dada Patil College is located in Ahmednagar’s Karjat and is run by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha.

Legal Right Observatory (LRO), an indigenous legal rights body, highlighted (archived tweet) that in addition to Nagarkar, a police inspector of Ahmednagar police also threatened the students with tadipari notice if they dared to chant Jai Sri Ram again.

In a video shared by LRO, the students are seen sitting inside a room (possibly a staff room) and being treated like criminals. The short clip shows threats being issued to them. The legal rights body has demanded the immediate sacking and arrest of the Hinduphobic principal Nagarkar. They also asked the Nagar Police Superintendent of Police to act swiftly against the erring police inspector.

Hinduphobia in educational institutions is also on the rise. On 25 August, a minor Hindu student in a government school in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua was mercilessly beaten by his teacher Farooq for writing ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the blackboard. A similar incident was reported in Madhya Pradesh in August. As per reports, a Hindu student was harassed by his class teacher for writing the sacred chant of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the blackboard at a community school in the Ujjain district.

In ‘Hindu-majority’ Bharat there is increasing intolerance towards Hindus raising Jai Sri Ram slogans and practicing their religion. While on the one hand, several schools are seen promoting Islam and Christianity under the garb of secularism, on the other, Hindu students are being punished by Hinduphobic teachers and management for simply following their religion.
