Hindus under attack: a weekly roundup of hate crimes, persecution, and discrimination against Hindus

Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalized & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.

In this weekly summary for the period from 01 November to 07 November 2026, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:

Bharat

1) Lucknow’s Uttar Pradesh government has directed the Registrar of King George’s Medical University to take strict departmental action against staff found complicit in love jihad and forced conversion. The action follows a Special Task Force inquiry report based on a complaint from the UP Youth Association. The report describes trapping and conversion of Hindu female doctors, and alleges that faculty shielded the accused and pressured victims’ families. The university must submit an action taken report.

2) Scam-accused Archbishop of Bengaluru Peter Machado urged the Karnataka Congress government to repeal the 2022 anti-conversion law and fulfil its manifesto promise. He spoke at a press conference of minority, Dalit and farmer groups and also sought a review of the cow slaughter ban, which he said ‘hurts Muslims and farmers’.

3) A shocking case of sexual assault involving a 14-year-old Hindu girl has been reported from the Jevargi police station limits in Kalaburagi district. The accused Islamist, identified as Ismail Sheikh, kidnapped the minor and repeatedly sexually assaulted her. According to reports, the radicalist perpetrator had become acquainted with the minor victim and began pressuring her to enter into a relationship and marry him. Despite her repeated refusal, he continued to harass and pursue her.

4) In a harrowing incident that sent shockwaves through Balagodu village in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district, 23-year-old Hima (an engineering final-year student) ended her life by committing suicide due to the consequence of the relentless harassment and blackmail by Naushad.

5) In a brazen and deeply disturbing act of sacrilege, sacred Navagraha murtis installed within the premises of the Lakshmi Venkataramana Swamy Temple, located near Kempegowda Circle on Jalanamangala Road in Ramanagara, were vandalized triggering outrage among devotees and local residents.

Pakistan

Abduction, rape, forced conversion, and marriage of minor Hindu girls are common occurrences in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. At least 1000 minority girls suffer such sex slavery every year in Sindh province alone. Apart from this, Pakistani Hindus face systemic and institutionalized discrimination and neglect, such as frequent attacks on Hindu temples, demonization of education curriculum, police and judicial antipathy, denial of fundamental rights, and even untouchability. This latest instance of the brutal rape and murder of a Bheel woman in Pakistan is yet another proof of the pitiable condition of Hindu minorities in Pakistan.

1) Sindh Renaissance reports the alleged abduction of yet another Hindu minor girl in Pakistan – 16-year-old Madhu Kohli from Hussain Khan Thoro village in Tando Fazal, Sindh, who is said to have been forcibly converted to Islam and married. The article stresses that confirmation from police and courts is still awaited – not surprising given the culture of intimidation and institutionalized silence towards such cases in Pakistan.

World

1) A white supremacist armed with an AR-style rifle and hundreds of rounds of ammunition tried to carry out a mass shooting at the Aurora Hindu temple on the first day of Navaratri, but his gun jammed. The suspect, Alexandros Paporakis, a 19-year-old Taco Bell worker from Palatine, Illinois, was arrested after a co-worker’s tip and charged with making a terrorist threat and unlawfully possessing weapons. Prosecutors identified the target as the Sri Venkateswara Swami (Balaji) Temple. Investigators reportedly found white-supremacist material, and US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who was inside with his family when Paporakis drove by, has sought an FBI probe.

Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.

We request all readers to share other anti-Hindu hate crimes that we might have missed in this period in the comments below or by emailing [email protected]. We also solicit support in maintaining the Hindu human rights tracker database.
