Prince Harry’s Father-in-Law Arrested in Florida on Child Sexual Abuse Material Charge, After Prince Andrew’s Epstein Links

Summary: Prince Harry's father-in-law has been arrested in Florida on a child sexual abuse material charge. Thomas Markle, 82, is the father of Meghan Markle, the American actress who married Prince Harry, younger son of King Charles III. The royal family is already reeling from Charles stripping his brother Andrew of his titles last year over his links to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. FBI agents arrested Markle on Friday, 6 November 2026; US Attorney Bill Essayli says he is accused of possessing photographs depicting himself with minor girls, and the US Department of Justice says about 78 items were seized from two Los Angeles-area storage units he rented for nearly two decades, with more allegedly found in the Philippines and Mexico, reports Philstar, citing AFP.

Why it matters: Britain’s royal family, long lurching from one controversy to another, now counts a brother stripped of his titles over Epstein and a daughter-in-law’s father facing a federal child sexual abuse material charge. A country that champions liberal democracy and believes its monarchy helps retain some of its former “prestige” must now ask what an institution kept at taxpayer expense is worth.
