In a disturbing case that has come to light in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, the police have arrested a man on charges of “love jihad” after he allegedly deceived a woman doctor by pretending to convert to Hinduism and marrying her under false pretenses. Based on the reports from Jagran, the incident, which began in 2018, took a dark turn when the accused, Islamist Dr. Abdur Rahman from Shahjahanpur, Meerut, was found to have manipulated the victim, a doctor originally from Odisha, into marrying him by feigning religious conversion.
False conversion and manipulation
The victim, who had completed her MBBS in Ukraine, returned to India and began working at a hospital in Noida, where she met Islamist Rahman. Under the guise of love, Rahman convinced her of his supposed conversion to Hinduism and married her on October 15, 2018. However, after the marriage, his true intentions became apparent when their son was born in 2021. Islamist Rahman named the child Ali and insisted on performing circumcision, revealing that he had never truly abandoned his original faith. This was part of a calculated scheme to exploit and deceive the victim.
The situation further escalated when it was revealed that prior to the marriage, Islamist Rahman had allegedly attempted to harm the woman by setting her on fire in a Noida flat in 2017, leaving her severely injured. Despite this, the victim, under the influence of Rahman’s deceit, agreed to marry him, only to face further manipulation and abuse.
Legal action and ongoing investigation
The victim’s mother, distressed by the ongoing abuse and deception, eventually filed a complaint with the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s office, leading to an investigation. On August 13, 2024, the police registered a case against Islamist Rahman and subsequently arrested him. The authorities are continuing their investigation into this case of religious manipulation, forced conversion, and domestic abuse, which has sparked serious concerns about the exploitation of religious identities for personal gain.
There have been several instances where Islamists have used conversion tactics, attempting to forcibly convert Hindu girls to Islam after marriage. However, this case stands out because the man himself initially agreed to convert to Hindu Dharma. Such religious tactics to coerce Hindu girls into conversion still continue in Bharat, which is highly concerning.
Recently, two disturbing cases have emerged in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the severity of radical Islamism. In Hardoi, a Hindu man was allegedly shot dead by Sarvesh Khan at his girlfriend’s house. Meanwhile, in Raebareli, Tauheed pretended to be Janu Mishra and trapped a minor Hindu girl in a love affair. The girl tragically committed suicide after discovering the truth. These incidents underscore the alarming impact of radical ideologies and targeted crime against Hindus.
