According to accounts from villagers as reported in Lokal Telugu, some village elders and youth decided to distribute the Akshata brought from Ayodhya. However, the situation took a contentious turn when individuals, including Narra Pedda Istari, Mallesham, Narsimhu, Naresh, and others, objected to the distribution, raising concerns about the absence of a designated community leader.
The dispute intensified as members of the opposing groups confronted each other, reflecting underlying tensions within the village. Notably, the disagreement took on a religious dimension, with some questioning the authority of a Christian caste leader in overseeing the process. The Hindu leaders took lead in distributing the akshata. But apparently they did not “seek permission” from the Caste head because he was of Christian faith. This is being said to be the reason for the clash.
As the confrontation unfolded, some village elders intervened and managed to distribute the akshata. Nevertheless, incidents of the clash were captured on video and subsequently circulated on social media platforms, drawing widespread attention.
In response to the viral video, Jagdevpur Sub-Inspector Chandramohan visited the village of Palugugadda to assess the situation. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srinivas Rao also arrived at Jagadevapur to gather details on the incident. The involvement of a Christian caste head in the dispute further complicated matters, with Hindus expressing reluctance to seek permission from a leader outside their faith.
Upon learning of the incident, members of Bajrang Dal, BJYM, and other Hindu religious organisations converged at the local police station, urging authorities to act against those obstructing the akshata distribution.
Despite the clashes occurring due to religious differences, the police authorities emphasised that the clash stemmed from internal disputes within the same clan and then registered a case against individuals involved in the altercation. Police officials are closely monitoring the situation, acknowledging the historical factions within the community as potential contributing factors to the altercation.
