The ancient traditional Sri Sri Siddheshwari Kalibari Temple, located at Baniakandi of Jasadal Union in Sadar Upazila of Kishoreganj district town in Bangladesh was established in 1457 AD.

The ancestors of Zamindar Kali Kishore Roy, of Jashodal near the district town of Kishoreganj worshipped at the temple named as

Sri Sri Siddheshwari Kali Mandir from generation to generation.

When India was partitioned in 1947, Zamindar Kalikishore Roy’s two sons Satyendra Roy and Bhupendra Roy moved to Alipurduar in Kolkata of India respectively.

After the partition of India, this temple was affected in various ways. This temple was attacked in the communal riots of 1964 and the liberation war of 1971 by the Pakistani Army.

During liberation war of 1971, Pakistani occupation forces brutally killed some people including freedom fighters in the slaughter houses on one side of the temple grounds.  At present, a memorial has been established at that place in memory of the martyrs.

In 1992, the temple was reportedly attacked and looted by a group of miscreants led by a local influential leader over the Babri Masjid issue.

It’s learnt that initially Kali Puja was performed in a tin house.  Later the temple was gradually built.  At present this complex has five temples.  The temples are Lord Shiva, Shanidev, Siddheshwari Kali Mata and Sri Sri Satya Narayan and Durga temples respectively.

It is known that various types of worships including Durga Puja, Kali Puja are celebrated in the temple.

In 1995, with the funding of the Zilla Parishad, the shed house was constructed with the efforts of the then Zilla Parishad executive Subhash Sarkar at a cost of two lakh taka.

In 2002, the late president Ajay Kumar Das started the construction of the Kali temple, Durga temple and Radhamadhav temple and 80% of the work was completed in May 2005 before his death.

In 2008, the Shiva temple was built with the funding of Haridas Kumar Kairi, Tapan Kumar Kairi, Swapan Kumar Kairi, Arun Kumar Kairi, the wealthy businessmen of the district town of Kishoreganj respectively.

In 2013-16, Nat Mandir was constructed at a cost of Tk. 25 lakh.  Engineer Gautam Chowdhury designed and provided financial assistance for the construction of this Nat temple.

In the year 2022, the work of Lord Maheshwar library and Srimad Bhagavad Gita Shikholaya Bhavan ( Gita Education Centre Building) at the cost of Tk 15 lakh is almost at the end.

In 2022, a market was built in front of Siddheshwari Kalibari at a cost of 20 lakh. It’s learnt that  a local influential leader of a big party made various efforts to get a room in the market, but his effort went in vain due to strong protest of Ratan Chandra Das, Secretary of the temple managing committee.

Most recently, Sri Sri Satyanarayan Temple, Siddhidata Sri Sri Ganapati Ganesh Temple and Sri Sri Graharaja Shani Dev Temple are under construction at a cost of around 35 lakhs.

Shri Ratan Chandra Das, secretary of the temple committee, said that there is a plan to build a community center and a dormitory at a cost of about TK 30 millions. Ms. Lovely Das is successfully leading the Temple Committee as President.

The temple is established on the Decimals of  land of zamindar Kali Kishore Roy Chowdhury.  It’s also learnt that an influentialman made a forge records and grabbed  about 26 Decimals of the land for a long time.

At present at least six people are working in the temple including two priests.
