ED officials on raid were attacked in the Sandeshkhali area of North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Several ED officials were injured, and also their cars were vandalised.

As per the received information, this morning, a team of ED officials were in the Sandeshkhali area. While they reached there, a Muslim mob gheraoed their cars and started to give ‘go back’ slogans. CRPF jawans who were accompanying the ED officials couldn’t control the mob, numbering around 3 thousand. 

Amid slogans, the mob suddenly attacked ED officials. Cars were vandalised. Also, they burnt a vehicle. 

Notably, the area is the stronghold of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh. Once a notorious criminal, Shahjahan Sheikh has his gang in the area. From the Police to the livelihoods to all the illegal activities in the area, Shahjahan Sheikh controls everything. Even the Police are helpless there, say locals. 

Now, Shahjahan Sheikh is a block-level leader of TMC. This morning, a team of ED officials reached his home to investigate his involvement in the ration distribution scam. The ED officials alleged that he was not answering the call and was not cooperating in the investigation. When the ED officials tried to enter the home of Shahjahan Sheikh, a Muslim mob attacked them. Also, several journalists were attacked who were trying to cover the news. 

Earlier, on the 26th of October, 2023, ED Officials raided the home and office of West Bengal Minister Jyoti Priya Mallik in Kolkata for his alleged involvement in the ration distribution scam. Later, he was arrested. He was a senior leader of the ruling party TMC, and was based in the same district of North 24 Parganas. Shahjahan Sheikh is allegedly the close associate of the arrested Minister Jyoti Priya Mallik. Jyoti Priya Mallik and Shahjahan Sheikh allegedly control all the illegal activities in the whole district of North 24 Parganas.
