Like Bangladesh, attacks on the Hindu temple have started in West Bengal. A fresh case has been reported from the Birbhum district. A Hanuman temple is attacked and the Murti is vandalised.
The Hanuman temple is situated in Indragachcha village under the Siuri block of the Birbhum district. On the morning of 29th of November, locals saw that the Murti of the Hanuman had been vandalised. Soon, the news spread and locals gathered in front of the temple.
Locals alleged that the temple was attacked the previous night. They have no idea who did this. Meanwhile, the incident became viral on social media. Netizens are posting the images of the broken murti and expressing their concerns saying that Bangladesh-type situations are happening here.
However, Sri Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition, alleged that the Police had failed to arrest any culprits. In a post in ‘X’, he wrote, “In continuation to the Post shared by me this morning regarding the vandalism at the Lord Hanuman Temple at Indragachha More, Purandarpur Gram Panchayat, Siuri – II Block, Birbhum District, the Siuri Police have failed to arrest any culprits.However, they sprang into action and tried to cover up the desecration of Bajrangbali’s Idol by getting the Idol repaired. OC Debasish Ghosh; Siuri Police Station, Birbhum Police District, your job is to solve the crime not to repair the Idol. In Sanatani Tradition, an Idol once desecrated can’t be fixed just like that, there are specific rituals which need to be followed for ‘Pratistha’.”
