West Bengal: A Hindu girl gang-raped in Digha; police arrests Ansarul and Nazrul Shah

News of gang rape has been coming from the Digha of Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. The Police already arrested two accused, while another one is absconding.

The arrested persons are identified as Ansarul Shah and Nazrul Shah. They are resident of Ratanpur village.

As per the reports, the victim girl is a resident of Mahishadal town of the Purba Medinipur district. She went to the tourist spot Digha with her make friend on the 4th of February. There, they were searching for a hotel.

Meanwhile, some youths came for help. The youths allegedly asked them to arrange a hotel at a fair price. The girl and her friend believed them and went with them. The youths took them to the outskirts of the town in their motorcycles.

As per the girl’s complaint, “They took us to a lonely place. There were bushes. They tied my friend to a tree and beat him. Then, they gang-raped me. Leaving us there, they fled.”

Later, the woman filed a written complaint at Digha Police Station against the accused. The Police immediately launched an investigation and arrested two accused persons, while another is absconding.

However, this incident caused serious concerns among the hotel owners and the businessmen of Digha town. Digha is a famous tourist attraction, and every year, millions of tourists visit the place to enjoy the sea. This incident raised questions about the security of the tourists. Members of the Digha Hotel owners association demanded to tighten the security in the area.
