Two cases of narcotic jihad reported from Kerala

Two cases of narcotic jihad were reported from Kerala on the same day. Kozhikode police arrested a three-member gang who threatened a doctor with a sword and robbed him. E.K Muhammad Anas (26) of Mattummal House, N.P Shijindas (27) of Gourishankaram, Kunnamangalam, and Anu Krishna (24) from Paroppadi were apprehended.

The incident occurred Monday morning at a lodge near the Kozhikode Railway Station. The accused carried out the robbery by brandishing a sword at the doctor and creating an atmosphere of terror. The gang was detained by the Town Police Inspector Baiju K. Jose, and a team from the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) led by Kozhikode Anti-Narcotics Cell Assistant Commissioner T. P. Jacob detained all three accused.

The gang members acquainted the doctor last night. After finding out the doctor’s room, the accused arrived in the morning with a weapon and threatened him. When they understood that the doctor did not have money, they forced him to send Rs 2,500 from his bank account through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

Malayala Manorama reported that the accused are drug users. They indulged in theft to get money to buy drugs. Media said that the accused were drug users, were anxious for their fix, and thus resorted to the crime.

They indulged in theft to get money to buy drugs. Anas and Anu had planned to escape to Delhi to avoid being caught by the police. They were apprehended in the meantime. The police confiscated motorcycles, mobile phones, and a sword from them.

In another case, Aarathi Gireesh(29)from Chakkarakkal Mowencheri was caught by the police along with an Islamist for peddling narcotic drugs in Tripunithura, Ernakulam. They were arrested from an apartment near the railway overpass on Tripunithara Refinery Road on Sunday night.

Along with the woman, the police have also arrested Bilal Muhammad (34) from Munna’s house in Kollam Kilikollur. Police seized 22 grams of methamphetamine, known as MDMA, and cannabis from them. The Kochi City DANZAF team and Tripunithura Hill Palace police arrested them.

Many cases where Islamists entrap Hindu women in narcotic jihad to use them as carriers have emerged from Kerala. These vulnerable women are also used for extortion and honeytrap cases. Once addicted, the ladies are left without a choice. Neither the society nor the government helps such Hindu victims.

Incidentally, most of these women are from the Malabar region of Kerala.
