Shamima and Riaz arrested with 62 grams of MDMA in Kerala

Kerala police arrested a young woman and her boyfriend with narcotic drug methamphetamine (MDMA) during a vehicle inspection in Walayar, Palakkad. Police informed the lady is also accused in Honeytrap cases. The two were caught in the police net with 62 grams of MDMA during the night inspection. The arrested woman is a model, an Instagram star, and the first runner-up in the South Kerala beauty pageant, the police said.

Shameena (31) from Vallivattom house in Mukundapuram, Thrissur was detained. Along with her, her friend Mohd. Rias (31) from Edasseri Arakkal house, Thalikulam was also arrested. Police have also received information that they were carrying the MDMA to a party held by models and social media stars at a resort in Kochi.

These narcotic drugs are imported from other countries and sold widely, including at DJ parties. It is reported that drug runners smuggle chemical intoxicants from Bengaluru and Tamil Nadu into Kerala.

Shamina is also accused in the honey trap case in Thiruvampady in Kozhikode district and Kodungallur (Thrissur) police stations in 2019. She was arrested for extorting money from the owner of the resort by taking nude pictures of him and threatening him. The scam took place after taking a room at the resort with her male criminal accomplices.

Rias is an IT professional. He left his job in the Gulf months ago and came to Thrissur. The luxury jeep in which they transported drugs worth lakhs from Bengaluru was also taken into custody by the police. The accused who were produced in the court were remanded. The accused were arrested following the secret information received by the Kasaba police. Kasaba Police and Anti-Narcotics Squad jointly conducted the investigation.

Most smugglers belong to a particular community but their selfish actions have destroyed the lives of several families from different sections of Kerala society. The drug menace in Kerala has become uncontrollable and yet the ruling regime is not prepared to take concrete action against the wholesalers. Raids are limited to carriers and that too is based on tips received from informers and gang rivals.
