Nanded police cracking down on Gaurakshaks while cow smuggling and gambling gangs of Sheikh Rafiq Mehboob & Firoz Dosani thrive?

Daylight robbery by an armed gang in Nanded’s Kinwat has raised questions regarding the condition of law and order situation in the district.

According to reports, an armed gang attacked an illegal gambling adda and looted cash and gold worth millions of rupees. As per information, the gang comprised 10 to 12 persons, which were armed with pistols and other weapons, one lakh rupees cash, mobile phones, and gold ornaments totalling worth 15 lakhs. Before fleeing from the spot they locked the gamblers in a room and sprayed pepper spray on them.

The robbery took place on Tuesday (July 18) afternoon between 3 and 4 PM. The gang was armed with swords in addition to desi pistols. They also looted passers-by. No complaint has been lodged with police nor have the police taken cognizance of the incident and registered any case. Media reports say illegal gambling and matka (type of gambling) dens are thriving in the vegetable market, Subhash Nagar, Mathura Nagar, and Gokunda areas of Kinwat.

Readers may recall how Nanded police allowed eight cow smugglers to escape while beating up Gaurakshaks. In February this year, a cop in Maharashtra’s Nanded was suspended after a video showing him brutally beating up many youths who were stopping cow smugglers went viral on social media. The cop was identified as Islapur Police’s API (Assistant Police Inspector) Raghunath Shewale.

In June this year, a Gaurakshak lost his life and 6 others were injured when the group was attacked by cattle smugglers. The incident took place on Monday (June 19) night at around 11.30 in Kinwat Tehsil’s Shivani Village located in Maharashtra’s Nanded District.

Similarly, there are allegations regarding the Pune police shielding accused Badshah Sheikh who torched a Khatik Hindu Basti in Daund while slapping fake IPC 307 (attempt to murder) FIRs against eleven Hindus identified as Akshay, Kunal, Gorakh Gholap, Komal, Sagar, Babu Jamdade, Ajay Ghone, Dipak Kamble, Nanavare, and Waghamre.
