In Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Ghazipur district, Mukhtar Sulemani stabbed Vishal Gupta in the neck on 14 May, trying to behead him. Vishal’s hand was cut off when he tried to defend himself. Sulemani was angry because Vishal had asked him to work properly. After Vishal filed a complaint, the accused was arrested.

This incident happened in the Dildarnagar police station area. Vishal Gupta, who works at Pradhan Dhaba in Hussainabad, filed a police complaint on 17 May. Taufiq owns the dhaba. Vishal had hired Mukhtar Sulemani to help him at work.

On 14 May, Vishal scolded Sulemani for not doing his job well and told him to go home if he couldn’t work properly. That night, around 11:40 pm, after Vishal had dinner and went to sleep, Sulemani attacked him with a knife.

The accused stabbed Vishal in the neck, waking him up in pain and panic. When he tried to strike again, Vishal grabbed the knife, but his hand was cut in the struggle. Hearing the commotion, nearby people rushed to help, and Sulemani fled. Vishal was taken to a local hospital, but due to his serious condition, he was sent to the district hospital for treatment. He was admitted to the trauma centre because of severe bleeding.

Subaiv Khan and Raja, who also work at the dhaba, helped take Vishal to the hospital, but no one informed the police. Vishal filed a complaint on 17 May after he started to recover. He asked for strict action against the accused. The police have filed an FIR under Section 307 of the IPC. Avinash Choubey, a Bajrang Dal official in Ghazipur, also demanded stern action against Sulemani. The police arrested the accused on Sunday (19 May).

Vishal and Sulemani live in the same area and have known each other for a long time, so Vishal hired him. Taufiq, the dhaba owner, initially paid for some of Vishal’s medical expenses, but the victim’s family eventually covered all the costs.
