In a significant effort to stop drug production and trafficking in the state, several law enforcement entities, in a joint operation, destroyed an illegal poppy plantation in the Ukhurl district of Manipur. The illegal plantation was spread over 50 acres of land.
During the operation, massive forces with the volunteers reached the Khamasom hill range of the Ukhurl district. The hill range is close to the Bharat-Myanmar international border.
A special force of Ukhurl district police, Manipur Rifles and the State Forest Department jointly launched the special operation. They eradicated nearly 50 acres of illegal poppy plantations.
Manipur CM Biren Singh has expressed his happiness and thanked the law enforcement agencies for this extraordinary success.
In a social media post, Biren Singh wrote, “Let us continue to work together to build a safer and drug-free society for our future generations.”
