A commotion erupted late Friday night in Indore involving a youth harassing a minor girl. Based on the Daily hunt reports, the incident occurred in the MG Road area of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It is reported that activists associated with a Hindu organisation apprehended a youth near Krishnapura who was harassing a minor girl. When the activists stopped him, a dispute ensued. Subsequently, the activists beat up the youth and then took him to the police station. The youth’s family members also arrived at the station after some time.
The reports do not mention the community the said youth belonged to. However, the Hindu organisation demanded for case to be booked under Love Jihad.
The youth had been harassing the girl, prompting activists to lodge a complaint at the police station regarding his misconduct towards the minor girl on the road. Upon intervention, they apprehended him, but he resisted and engaged in arguments, leading to his detention at the station. Subsequently, Ram Gopal Das and others from Khalapura Ram Mandir were briefed about the incident. Tensions escalated between the two sides, prompting MLA Golu Shukla and several leaders and activists from Hindu organizations to intervene.
Members of the Hindu organisation demanded the registration of a case under the Love Jihad as well as POCSO Act, since the victim in this case is minor, against the youth. They asserted that the youth had previously exhibited similar behaviour.
The continuous surge of incidents like love jihad and harassment, especially targeting Hindus in Indore, raises concerns among the Hindu community – are our girls safe? How much do we need to keep vigil and for how long?
