Badiadka police in Kasargod arrested a lady and a man with whom she was in a relationship under the POCSO act for conniving and raping two of her minor daughters. The accused are a 40-year-old mother and a man named P Abdul Latheef (43) from Pallatungal near Chengala in Kasargod district. Lateef alias Bunty Lateef is an expatriate who sells illegal liquor in Dubai. He also undertakes construction sub-contracts in and around Kasargod.  

The woman, a mother of two teen girls, was reportedly in a relationship with Latheef. The two of them took the 15 and 17-year-old girls to Wayanad on an excursion in February. The mother did not listen even though the 15-year-old victim pleaded that she was physically ill. She was forcibly dragged away and locked in the room to allow Latheef to rape her. The pedophile showed extreme cruelty, especially to the 15-year-old girl.

Police said the girls’ mother introduced Lateef as a relative and allowed him to stay in their house. With the mother’s connivance, Lateef sexually assaulted the minors several times. As if that torture was not enough, the sick couple allegedly continued the abuse once they returned to Kasargod. 

The younger child disclosed the molestation during the counseling held at her school. School authorities then informed the police. Based on the complaint, Badiadka police recorded the statement of the two girls and registered two POCSO cases against Latheef and his lover.

Badiadka Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar caught Latheef when he was about to escape to Dubai after learning about the case. The accused were produced before the Kasargod judicial magistrate and remanded to judicial custody on Friday.
