Gujarat : Muslim mob attacked Shiv Yatra procession in Thasra; Stones pelted from Madarsa

On September 15, on the last day of the auspicious month of Shravan, a Bhagwan Shiv Yatra procession came under an attack in the Thasra area in the Kheda district in Gujarat.

It is being said that stones were pelted by Muslim mob from a Madarsa, when Bhagwan Shiva Yatra procession was passing through a ‘Muslim Area’. According to Vijaydasji Maharaj the incident appeared pre-planned. He went on to say that large stones were used to attack the Hindu procession. Hindus participating in processions had to leave the procession mid-way leaving their shoes on the roads. Police have controlled the situation and additional deployment was made to ensure to untoward incident.

The incident happened around 3 pm, the local Hindus reported it to the Police, which reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Police have registered an FIR against Mohammad Abrar Riazuddin Syed, Laket Ali, Adil Syed Mohammad Amin Mansoor Ali and about 70 people.

According to the sources, Shiva Yatra takes place every year in Thasra. This year too, the yatra initiated around 1 pm. This years, the procession witnessed a large number of participants.

At around 3 p.m. when the yatra reached the city square, stones were pelted at Hindu devotees from a nearby Madarsa. It created a stampede-like situation, and Hindus were forced to flee for their lives and abandon the yatra mid-way.

As per the Police, three officers were hurt, including two officers and one PSI. However, it is still unknown whether any devotees were hurt.
