Bangladesh: Muslim mob attack Hindu temple in Gaibandha, the Murti vandalised

Hindu temples are not safe in Muslim-majority Bangladesh. Hindus temples are frequently attacked in different parts of the country. Now, a fresh of case of attack and Murti vandalism has been reported from the Gaibandha district of Bangladesh.

The incident occurred in the Palashbari area of the Gaibandha district on the night of the 17th of April.

Local Hindus said that the Puja of Basanti Mata was going on in the temple. Religious song was being played in the loudspeakers. Some Islamists objected to it. They threatened to stop the loudspeakers. But, the local Hindus didn’t agree with them.

Suddenly, Islamists allegedly made announcement from the loudspeakers of a local mosque. Islamists called local Muslim residents to gather in front of the mosque.

Within few minutes, Muslim mob attacked the Hindu temple. They vandalised the Murti and other things of the temple. They also beat up some local Hindus who were present on the temple premises. Many Hindus also fled.

As of now, no complaint has been filed as local Hindu minorities are terrified and couldn’t gather courage to do so.
