In Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Kanpur, a case of sexual assault involving a 20-year-old man named Danish has come to light. He was arrested for deceiving a 14-year-old Hindu girl on social media by pretending to be Hindu. Using a false Hindu identity, Danish promised her a wonderful life and then kidnapped and sexually assaulted her.
Danish forced the young girl to consume beef and participate in Islamic prayers. She had to endure beatings if she refused to comply. Additionally, Danish took her to a mosque, changed her name to Muskaan Khan, and threatened her in a one-room slum where he lived with his family.
The incident occurred in the Chakeri police station area of Kanpur. Danish called the girl to meet him on October 22, 2023 and abducted her to a place called Maikupurwa. For two months, she faced repeated sexual assaults while attempting, unsuccessfully, to escape. On December 30, Danish planned to forcefully convert her to Islam and marry her against her will.
Fortunately, Hindu organizations like Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal learned of the situation and, with local assistance, rescued the girl. The victim’s father, who works in a factory, was unaware of his daughter’s ordeal until she went missing on a day the family thought she had gone to the bathroom. He filed a complaint at the police station, seeking justice.
According to a Hindu activist, the girl came into contact with Danish on Instagram, where he used a false Hindu name. She was impressed by his pictures of luxurious homes and cars. Upon meeting him, Danish and his mother invited her to stay for a few days but held her captive. They damaged her SIM card, preventing her from contacting her family.
Despite several attempts to escape, the girl remained locked inside the house, where she was also taken to a mosque, fed beef, and given a new name. Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal were alerted and, along with the victim’s family, found her. Danish had already fled, leaving the girl to share the horrifying details with them.
Anand Singh, the District Vice President of Vishva Hindu Parishad, mentioned that the accused and his family tried to force the girl to convert to Islam, making her pray and assaulting her if she resisted. On December 30, The accused planned to discuss marriage with a cleric and a journalist friend, but Hindu activists rescued the girl.
Danish has been apprehended, and a case has been registered against him. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP)-East in Kanpur confirmed the arrest and stated that further investigations are underway. In her complaint, the victim highlighted Danish’s deceptive portrayal on Instagram, where he shared pictures of fancy cars and homes while living in a small shack with only a curtain hanging over it.
