In a molestation incident in Surat, a 17-year-old Hindu girl reported being molested by a 24-year-old male beautician named Shahrukh Shah at the Javed Habib salon located in Shiv Kartik Enclave on VIP Road. According to police accounts, on the 5th of November, the victim, accompanied by her mother, visited the salon.
After getting a haircut, the girl opted for a facial treatment. During the facial session in a separate cabin, Shahrukh allegedly engaged in inappropriate touching. When the victim raised objections, the accused initially dismissed it as a mistake, only to repeat the misconduct. The minor girl then hurriedly left the cabin and informed her mother, leading them to leave the salon.
“The incident took place on Sunday (5 November) when the girl went to the salon with her mother. After hair-cutting, she wanted to go for a facial treatment. The male beautician took her to a different cabin. During facial, he started touching her inappropriately, and when she objected, he said sorry,” Vesu police inspector RY Raval informed Times of India.
Subsequently, the family decided to file an FIR with the Vesu police, who promptly took action and arrested three male beauticians from the salon. The girl identified the accused, Shahrukh, before the executive magistrate. It was later revealed that Shahrukh’s real name is Mohammad Riyaz Hasamtullah Shah, a resident of Rajipurkala village in the Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. He had been employed at the Javed Habib Salon for the past few months, managing the salon’s operations with a monthly salary of Rs 35,000.
The accused has been booked and arrested under Section 354A (1)(1) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Pocso Act.
