“Assam Govt’s Crackdown On Drugs: Notorious mafia Abdul Ali injured in encounter; cow smuggler killed in clash with BSF”, Organiser, February 22, 2024:

“In a recent encounter in Lumding, Hojai district of Assam, notorious drug mafia Abdul Ali, also known as Abul Hussain, sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg as he attempted to attack the police on February 22. The incident unfolded during a search operation conducted by a Lumding police team led by Pallav Tamuli, Additional SP (Crime), who had apprehended Abul Ali on January 21.

Under the cover of darkness on January 22, Abdul Ali assaulted a police constable in an attempt to evade arrest when he was taken for a search operation.

The police were compelled to open fire to thwart his escape, resulting in Abul Ali’s critical condition and subsequent admission to Lumding Civil Hospital. Additionally, a police officer was injured during the confrontation with the drug mafia……”
