Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday, extended greetings to the nation on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day.

In a post on X, he prayed that this occasion would strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution.

“Happy Republic Day. Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We bow to all the great women and men who made our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity and unity. May this occasion strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution and working towards a stronger and prosperous India,” said the PM.

President Droupadi Murmu will lead the Nation in celebrating the 76th Republic Day from Kartavya Path in the national capital.

With a special focus on 75 years of enactment of the Constitution and Jan Bhagidari, the celebrations this year will be a unique blend of India’s rich cultural diversity, unity, equality, development and military prowess, according to a government press release.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto will be the Chief Guest.

Around 10,000 special guests have been invited to witness the parade, in line with the government’s objective to increase ‘Jan Bhagidari’ in events of national importance. These guests from different walks of life are the architects of ‘Swarnim Bharat’. They include the best performers in various fields and those who have made the best use of the schemes of the government.

The parade, ‘The Republic Day Parade’ will start at 10.30 a.m. and run for a duration of approx. 90 minutes. The ceremony will commence with the visit of PM Modi to the National War Memorial, where he will lead the nation in paying solemn tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath. Thereafter, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries will head to the saluting dais at Kartavya Path to witness the parade.

The arrival of the President of India and her Indonesian counterpart will be escorted by the President’s Bodyguard, the seniormost Regiment of the Indian Army. The two Presidents will arrive in the ‘Traditional Buggy’, the practice which made a comeback in 2024 after a gap of 40 years.

As per tradition, the National Flag will be unfurled followed by the National Anthem with a thunderous 21-gun salute using 105-mm Light Field Guns, an indigenous weapon system. The parade will be heralded by 300 cultural artists playing ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’ with musical instruments from different parts of the country. This indigenous mix of instruments would resonate with the melody, beat and hopes of a billion Indians’ hearts. The ensemble of instruments includes Shehnai, Sundari, Nadaswaram, Been, Mashak Been, Ransingha – Rajasthan, Flute, Karadi Majalu, Mohuri, Sankha, Tutari, Dhol, Gong, Nishan, Chang, Tasha, Sambal, Chenda, Idakka, Lezim, Thavil, Gudum Baza, Talam and Monbah.

Showering of flower petals will be carried out by Mi-17 1V helicopters from 129 Helicopter Unit in the Dhwaj Formation.

Trooping the National Flag, this formation of helicopters will be led by Group Captain Alok Ahlawat. The parade will then begin with the President taking the salute. “Fabrication of Fatima Sheikh: A case study of how fictional narratives can be weaponised for political or ideological gains”, Opindia, January 25, 2025:

“In an era where information is disseminated at lightning speed, the integrity of historical narratives can easily be compromised by the creation and proliferation of fake literature. Fabrication of Fatima Sheikh, is one such case where a fictional character was created and inserted silently into the historical discourse.

Let us explore how our history can be manipulated by such fabrications and analyse the broader implications of such fabrications on Indian cultural and historical understanding.

Dilip Mandal, the new media advisor of the government, made a sensational claim on Thursday, 9th January, saying he created a fictional character named “Fatima Sheikh” in 2006. He admitted that this fabrication was part of a larger strategy to craft a political narrative. His confession is pivotal, as it not only highlighted the deliberate construction of a fake historical figure for ideological purposes, it also pointed towards a larger syndicate of historical manipulation in play for decades……”

Hindus under attack: a weekly roundup of hate crimes, persecution, and discrimination against Hindus

0
hindu

Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalized & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.

In this weekly summary for the period from 19 January to 25 January 2025, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:

Bharat

1) A mob of Bangladeshis crossed over the border and attempted to steal the standing crops of Indian farmers while yelling ‘Allah hu Akbar’ and ‘Naara e Takbeer’. The incident took place in Sukdevpur in the Malda district of West Bengal.

2) Mainstream media (MSM) has once again displayed its Hinduphobic bias by misusing the term Tantrik and using images of Hindu rituals to describe a heinous crime committed by a Muslim black magician. This deliberate misrepresentation not only distorts the facts but also targets and vilifies Hindu traditions, while conveniently obscuring the religious identity of the accused. Such biased reporting not only perpetuates misinformation but also undermines the integrity of journalism, raising serious concerns about the media’s role in Bharatiya society.

3) In Karnataka, attacks on cattle are steadily rising. In a new incident, a cow was killed after her udders were removed. A temple calf’s tail was also chopped. The pregnant cow’s stomach was torn to extract the calf from its womb and the flesh was then removed from its body. This occurrence transpired in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district.

4) The Uttar Pradesh Police have refuted a fake story posted by a YouTube channel The News Tracker (TNT) and amplified by repeat offender Nazneen Akhtar. The story makes false claims about a Sadhu attempting to ‘drug’ and ‘mistreat’ a little girl at the Mahakumbh. Furthermore, an FIR has been filed against two social media users including Akhtar for spreading false narratives that caused public alarm, and the issue has now turned into a judicial struggle.

5) The police stopped Islamist outfits including the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political arm of the banned terrorist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) from carrying out animal slaughter (Qurbani) in Madurai Hill in Thirparankundram city in Tamil Nadu. This came after Solaikannan, the Madurai district president of the Indu Makkal Katchi (IMK), submitted an appeal to Police Commissioner Loganathan to stop the Islamic outfits from offering Qurbani by slaughtering goats and chickens at the Sikandar Badushah dargah on the sacred Madurai Hill where the famous Murugan Temple is situated.

6) In a crackdown against misleading naming of business establishments, Gujarat Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has cancelled the contracts with 27 hotels in the state. As a result of this decision, Transport Corporation buses will not stop at these hotels from now on. Notably, these hotels had taken licenses in Hindu names, but in reality, the owners are Muslims.

Pakistan

Abduction, rape, forced conversion, and marriage of minor Hindu girls are common occurrences in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. At least 1000 minority girls suffer such sex slavery every year in Sindh province alone. Apart from this, Pakistani Hindus face systemic and institutionalized discrimination and neglect, such as frequent attacks on Hindu temples, demonization of education curriculum, police and judicial antipathy, denial of fundamental rights, and even untouchability. This latest instance of the brutal rape and murder of a Bheel woman in Pakistan is yet another proof of the pitiable condition of Hindu minorities in Pakistan.

1) A new report by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), titled “Exodus: Is the Hindu Community Leaving Sindh?” underscores the alarming trend of Hindu families migrating from Sindh due to ongoing violence, economic hardships, and climate change. The HRCP’s fact-finding study reveals that the state has failed to protect this vulnerable minority, with many Hindus feeling compelled to leave not only due to religious-based violence but also due to systemic economic struggles.

2) The dead body of a 20-year-old woman named Uzma Bugti was found mutilated in Sinjhiro, a small city of Sanghar. Her death marks another gruesome incident reminiscent of the murder of Diya Bheel, who was also brutally killed in the same town. Uzma Bugti’s body was discovered in a sack in the fields two days later. Her head had been severed, her skin was peeled off, and her breasts and arms were amputated in a horrifying act of violence.

3) Kajool Meghwar, a girl aged 15 and a few months, was abducted on December 29/30, 2024 from Gulzar Qureshi village, Mirpurkhas. She was forcibly converted to Islam at Pir Sarhandi shrine, and she was married to a man named Puhno, who was much older than her. Kajool is a Tenth-grade at Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Mirpurkhas. She was born on March 15, 2009.

Bangladesh

Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.

1) A Mandir in the Chattragram district was attacked. Devotees discovered that the gate and a part of the wall of the Sri Sri Jwalakumari Mata temple were broken. They found that all the valuable ornaments of the Vigrah were stolen. Also, a donation box from the temple was broken and all the money was taken.

Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.

We request all readers to share other anti-Hindu hate crimes that we might have missed in this period in the comments below or by emailing hindupost.in@gmail.com. We also solicit support in maintaining the Hindu human rights tracker database.

kalpavriksham

With an illustrious lineup of speakers, performers, and hands-on experiences, the festival bridges ancient traditions and contemporary audiences. Organized in collaboration with Shankarananda Kalakshetra and Natyarambha, it is a vibrant effort to revive and sustain the oral and artistic traditions of Bharat. Ramayana Kalpavriksham is not just a festival—it is an opportunity to reconnect with our Dharmic roots and ensure that the cultural legacy of Bharat thrives for generations to come.

Reviving the cultural tapestry of Bharat

Dharma manifests itself as tradition, taking tangible form through customs and rituals. These traditions shape culture, which communicates its wisdom through symbols, art, and literature. The timeless stories of Bharatiya Itihasas and Granthas encapsulate immense cultural knowledge, passed down through concise tales, anecdotes, and aphorisms.

In the past, these stories were brought to life by kathavachakas, wandering bards, and mendicants who shared the wisdom of the Vedas and other Granthas across Bharatavarsha. Families became custodians of this knowledge, transmitting it orally through generations in the intimate setting of a home. However, the advent of modernity has disrupted this process. The emphasis on written knowledge, combined with lifestyle changes, has led to the decline of oral storytelling traditions.

Reviving the Art of Storytelling

Recognizing this gap, Bṛhat aims to bridge the divide by reviving the art of cultural storytelling in ways that resonate with contemporary audiences. Through various media formats, Bṛhat seeks to preserve and share the redemptive power of storytelling, fostering a deeper connection with the cultural wisdom of Bharat.

“Just as 2 more temples burn to ashes, Bangladesh govt denies persecution of Hindus, lies to US official and blames India for spreading ‘misinformation’”, Opindia, January 23, 2025:

“We do not want to use the word minority. Everyone is a citizen of Bangladesh and everyone has equal rights. The few isolated incidents that have occurred since 5th August are mainly political, not religious, reasons,” Bangladesh Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury claimed before the United States (US) Charge d’Affaires in Dhaka Tracey Anne Jacobson on the afternoon of 21st January, according to a report in The Daily Star. He added that the Indian media is spreading lies that minorities are not being oppressed in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Islamists attacked two temples on Tuesday in Kashiani of Gopalganj and set them on fire, reported Dhaka Tribune. The incident happened in the wee hours of 21st January in the Kashiani upazila’s Tarail Northpara village of Fulkra union, where a Durga temple and a Shitala temple were attacked. Both temples suffered severe damage from the flames, which destroyed worship materials and idols. Howe

ver, the perpetrators are yet to be identified. The authorities also arrived at the scene to evaluate the damage after learning of the occurrence. This is the latest attack on minorities and their religious places in Bangladesh that started after the ‘students revolution’ overthrew Sheikh Hasina government……”
