“Hindu Woman converts to Islam amid threats: A disturbing reality in Sindh”, Sindh Renaissance, August 11, 2024:

“In August 2024, A 28-year-old Hindu woman from the Matiari district of Sindh, identified as Meera, daughter of Adoo Kolhi, made headlines after converting to Islam and adopting the name Shahnaz in Gulzar Khalil Samaro. Following her conversion, Shahnaz married 25-year-old Waqar, son of Hashim Bhambhro, from Jhuddo Sindh.

In an interview with journalists, Shahnaz revealed that her relatives, including her brothers Dealo, Dhero, Chito, and Vero, have been threatening her life due to her conversion and new marriage. She expressed her fear for her safety and requested protection from the authorities.

This troubling incident highlights a broader issue faced by Hindu women in Pakistan, where reports indicate that many girls are kidnapped, subjected to abuse, and coerced into conversion. Such cases often involve intimidation and threats, forcing victims to make statements under duress in front of the media…..”
