“On 12th February, eight Indian Navy veterans who were given the death penalty in Qatar four months ago were finally released from captivity. Ministry of External Affairs thanked the Amir of the State of Qatar for enabling the release and home-coming of the Indian nationals.
In the press release, the ministry said, “The Government of India welcomes the release of eight Indian nationals working for the Dahra Global company who were detained in Qatar. Seven out of the eight of them have returned to India. We appreciate the decision by the Amir of the State of Qatar to enable the release and home-coming of these nationals.”
Seven of the eight Indian Navy veterans have returned to India. Notably, they were sentenced to death on the accusations of espionage. The release has been possible only because of the diplomatic efforts made by the Indian government and the personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. The government of India also provided legal assistance to them as required…..”

A laudable job performed by our Honorable Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi in conjunction with our External Affairs Ministry.
I also like to thank the Honorable Amir of the State of Qatar for his magnanimity.
But I’m stilled puzzled by the fact (Is this at all true?) how did these eight get to know the secret deal between Qatar & Italy regarding the sale of sumarine from the latter country to Qatar and why they would divulge that secret to Israel inasmuch as Israel, in the meantime, has established a good relation with Qatar & UAE regarding the lay of a gas pipeline from UAE thru Israeli territory.
