Hindus voting for Kamala Harris is like chickens voting for KFC

Kamala Harris will be the most Hinduphobic politician to run for the White House since Nixon, who sponsored the Bangladesh Hindu Genocide in 1971 which killed 3 million Bengali Hindus and led to the rape of over 200,000 women. Harris will unleash forces that will turn American Hindus’ dreams into a nightmare and destroy the place that Hindus have built in American society for the past 60 years.

The American dream of liberty and prosperity and worshipping freely will become a distant memory for Hindus. Every Hindu who goes out to Vote on Nov 5th should remember that Harris and the Democrats being in power might very well reduce them to the state of their fellow Hindus in Canada – under attack and hiding in fear.

How did Hindus get to this vaunted position in American Society?

Hindus were barred from migrating to the United States by the 1917 Immigration Act also known as the Asian Exclusion Act. Hindus could only migrate to the United States after the passage of the 1965 Immigration Act which abolished quotas based on European origin. Since then Hindus have migrated to the States in large numbers from India, Guyana, Fiji, Nepal, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Kenya and Bangladesh. They now number over 3 million and often lead an idyllic existence which is lacking for them in their native lands including India.

Hindus in America have the highest incomes and education and have an outsize presence in many spheres—education, technology, business, finance, medicine, and politics. According to data from other countries like the UK, they also probably have one of the lowest rates of committing violent crimes and being sent to jail. Their children excel in spelling bees and chess, though not at sports (yet), and go on to find a nation celebrating their success and their right to live and worship.

Hindus in India have to live with their religious processions being stoned, their temples vandalized and being under government control and they often face expulsions from their ancestral lands like what happened to Hindu Pandits in Kashmir or worse violent genocide like in Bangladesh in 1971. Hindu communities in America build grand temples coast to coast and various sampradayas take out rath yatras in cities without any fear. They enjoy a level of freedom from fear which is missing in their native lands including India. Harris winning the 2024 election might bring this idyllic existence to end and unleash a nightmare.

Kamala’s far-left progressive policies which she has quoted on the record will lead to unrestricted immigration, increased crime, higher inflation, higher taxes and re-introduction of affirmative action. All these policies will negatively impact Hindu-Americans who collectively pay the highest taxes on a per-capita basis and often live in large cities which are seeing spiraling crime rates. Their children are often the victims of affirmative action which allows colleges to discriminate against them. Most of these are policies that Hindus can live with but it is the other nightmares that Harris will unleash which should make Hindus wary of voting for her.

First, Who is Kamala Harris?

The first thing to understand is that Kamala Harris is an opportunist which is why she often speaks in word-salads as she lacks a set of ideologies and principles. Second, throughout her career she has aligned herself with far-left forces who are often violently opposed to Hindus and their human rights.

In her short and opportunistic political career, Harris has taken every opportunity to first milk and then reject her Hindu heritage. When she ran for that seat from California in 2016, Harris identified herself as the first Indian-American candidate for the US Senate. Now, Harris has chosen to embrace the Baptist religion and identify as African-American. Harris has the right as any American to choose any religion she wishes to adopt.

She has never spoken of what made her embrace the Christian Baptist but it seems convenient that it is followed by a majority of the African-American population with whom she identifies even though she was largely raised by a Tamil Brahmin mother. We can forgive Kamala for being an opportunist for adopting the Baptist faith and identifying as Black. We doubt African-American, Hindu Americans and Americans will allow for such transparent opportunism!

Kamala’s danger does not come from being an opportunist but rather of aligning with outright Hindu-phobic far-left voices on the American left. Kamala Harris has publicly criticized the Indian government in relation to policies in Kashmir and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Harris supported anti-CAA protests that were largely organized by groups labeling the law as discriminatory against Muslims while overlooking the fact that the Citizenship Amendment Act provided refuge to persecuted Hindus, Christians and Buddhist from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Her criticism of the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir while speaking at the Pakistani Consulate in 2019 accused the Indian government of committing Human Rights abuses and further accused the Indian government of gaslighting the population to cover it up. She suggested that the United States might have to intervene in Kashmir. She has not spoken a single word in support of the rights of Kashmiri Pandits and the threats posed by state-sponsored terrorism in the region. This is a departure from past Democratic candidates like Hillary Clinton who spoke bluntly to Pakistan about its sponsorship of Jihadist Terrorist groups in the region.

Kamala has also aligned herself with anti-Hindu groups like the Congressional Progressive Caucus composed of far-left politicians like Ilhan Omar and Pramila Jayapal. Ilhan Omar famously supports every Islamist cause on the planet and has visited PoK which was even condemned by the US State department. These politicians have been vocal critics of Hindutva and often portray it as extremist without acknowledging the historical context of Hindu persecution.

Hindu Killings in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has the highest number of Hindus living in an Islamic country. They have faced many riots including the infamous Noakhali riots in 1946 and the Hindu Genocide in 1971 by the Pakistani Army and their Bengali militia which led to 200,00-400,000 women raped and 3 million killed. Bangladeshi Hindus are the most vulnerable Hindu population in the world as they live at the mercy of a largely Islamic population which desires Sharia law. They were again rocked by violence after the coup against the Hasina Government. Their house were burnt, shops looted, women abducted and raped and their temples were vandalized.

Many US politicians including Vivek Ramaswamy and Tulsi Gabbard have spoken about the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh and called upon the State department to pressure the Bangladesh government to act to protect Hindus. Kamala Harris has chosen not to speak out against it and nor has Biden or any other major Democratic politician. This largely aligns with Harris’ political career where she often used the Indian and Hindu community to fund-raise by touting her Indian identity but has failed to support them on any issue.

This pattern follows Harris’s support for organizations and movements that have been critical of Hindu issues. Harris has been associated with advocacy groups like Equality Labs, which have been critical of Hindu traditions and have often conflated Hindu identity with caste discrimination, leading to increased negative perceptions of Hindu Americans. California famously demonized two Indian engineers at Cisco with an anti-caste suit egged on by Equality Labs. This of course led to a spate of articles in all US newspapers accusing Hindus of practicing caste-discrimination at work. The case was dismissed and Cisco was awarded damages but the damage to the reputation of Hindus was done. Expect this to become the norm if Kamala comes to power.

Biden-Harris Coddling of the Khalistani Threat and Attacks on Hindu Temples

The administration’s reluctance to take a strong stance against Khalistani separatists has emboldened anti-India and anti-Hindu sentiments, leading to increased tension within the Indian diaspora. Recent attacks on Hindu temples in America and the lack of a strong response from the Biden-Harris administration.

In 2023 and 2024 multiple Hindu temples in New York and California were vandalized with anti-India and pro-Khalistan slogans. The administration’s muted response to these incidents has left many Hindu Americans feeling unsupported and vulnerable. Expect this lack of condemnation to create an environment of fear and insecurity for Hindu Americans under a future Harris administration.

Come on Kamala just say the H-word

Kamala’s Diwali Greetings are the ultimate expression of her Hinduphobia. Harris as Vice President has tweeted Diwali Greetings in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Her greetings wished a Happy Diwali to all who celebrate Diwali while failing to mention Hindus or any other groups who celebrate it. Contrast that with her Eid greetings which wish Eid to all Muslims in America and across the world who are celebrating this holiday of prayer, reflection, and community. Come on, Kamala just say the ‘Hindu’ word!

While Harris often references her mother’s South Indian Tamil background and often talks about visiting India she has never explicitly once talked about the Hindu faith. She has mentioned visiting Hindu temples as a child, but she has never recalled a single fact or positive aspect of the Hindu faith.

Contrast this with the public embrace of Hinduism of Vivek Ramaswamy who ran for the Republican nomination and is widely expected to have a role in Trump’s administration. Trump’s Vice President running mate, JD Vance has also spoken of his wife Usha Vance’s encouraging him to convert to Catholicism but continues to follow her own Hindu faith.

Hindu Americans do not exist for Harris except as a donor bloc to be milked by talk of chitthis and dosas. The real-world concerns of Hindus around safety and the prospects of their children do not matter to her. Hindu Americans who are eligible to vote on Nov 5 must ensure that Harris does not lead them like chickens to a KFC and unleash a nightmare that Hindus are familiar with.
