Garba cancelled in Hindu mandir in USA after police warns about Hamas’ “global day of jihad” threat

A Hindu mandir in USA had to cancel the devotional dance known as Garba which is held during the annual Navratri festival, following the call for a ‘global day of jihad’ by a former head of the Hamas terrorist outfit.

Hindu American Foundation stated that the mandir authorities were called by the Chief of Police in Dayton, Ohio and made aware of the call issued by the former Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal. Meshaal currently heads Hamas’s diaspora office and is based in Doha, Qatar

Exercising caution, it was decided to cancel the garba planned for Friday night. However, garba thankfully proceeded on Saturday and Sunday night.

It is being claimed by some that the temple committee pressurized the “Umang Gujarati Association” of Dayton to cancel the garba dance due to ‘liability’ issues in case any attacks were to happen.

In a formal statement issued on October 10, Khaled Meshaal had proclaimed, “We declare next Friday (October 13), ‘The Friday of the Al-Aqsa Flood’ in support of Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa, and the jihad-waging Gaza. It is a day of general mobilization in our Arab and Islamic world and among the free people of the world. Go forth, whether light or heavy, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allah. That is better for you, if you only knew.

‘”It is a day to rally support, offer aid, and participate actively…It is a day to demonstrate our love for Palestine, Jerusalem, and Al-Aqsa. It is a day for sacrifice, heroism, and dedication, and to earn the honor of defending the first Qibla of Muslims, the third holiest mosque, and the ascension of the trusted Messenger”

“When the world, America, the West, and the Zionists see that the nation has come to the support of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that convoys of mujahideen are on their way to shed their pure blood on the land of Palestine, the battlefield will change, the balance of power will change.”

“To all scholars who teach jihad for the sake of God and who preach the fighters and martyrs, to all who teach and learn, this is a moment of application [of theories], so that words are not just words.”

Ever since a war broken out between Israel and Hamas, following the surprise and brutal terror attack launched by Hamas on October 7, there have been heated, at times violent, face-offs between supporters of Israel and Palestine across United States. In the iconic Times Square at New York, some pro-Hamas supporters were seen waving the Nazi Hakenkrauz sign at Jewish people, to remind them of the holocaust carried out by Hitler.

Almost 3000 lives have been lost on both sides, and the conflict has spread to the southern Lebanon border as well where Hezbollah and Israel are clashing.

Following Meshaal’s incendiary message, local and federal law enforcement agencies across the U.S. stepped up their patrols of Jewish houses of worship, Jewish-owned businesses and Israeli diplomatic buildings. While there was no explicit call against Hindus in Meshaal’s message, the Islamist hate for Hindus and other non-Muslims is well known and authorities probably decided not to take any chances.
