“Fear of defeat from Amethi, Rahul Gandhi moves to Raebareli; Smriti Irani prepares for re-election”, Organiser, May 3, 2024:

“Bringing an end to all kinds of speculation, the Congress party has finally announced that Rahul Gandhi will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from Raebareli leaving the Amethi seat vacant. This move departs from the longstanding tradition of the Gandhi family contesting from both constituencies.

The decision to field Rahul Gandhi from Raebareli comes after Sonia Gandhi recently vacated the seat, opting instead to represent the Rajya Sabha constituency. Meanwhile, the BJP has already named Uttar Pradesh minister Dinesh Pratap Singh as its candidate for the Raebareli seat, setting the stage for a high-stakes electoral battle.

In a surprise twist, the Congress has nominated Kishori Lal Sharma as its candidate for the Amethi seat. However, Sharma has refrained from commenting on his nomination, fueling speculation about the party’s strategy for the constituency……”
