Bangladesh: Hindu students should not be allowed to study in the school, protests erupt in Chattagram

Amid continuous attacks on dharmic places of Hindu minority community, a case of religious discrimination has been reported from Chattagram town of Bangladesh. Hindu students should not be given admission in the school, demanded a joint protest committee of muslim students and guardians.

Government Muslim Higher Secondary School is situated in the Chattagram town of Bangladesh. For many past years, students from both Hindu and Muslim communities had studied in the school. But, before the start of the new academic year, a group of Muslim students and their parents are demanding that Hindu students should not be allowed to study in the school. Even, they staged protests in front of the school. Also, they put placards and banners in the school premises and outside the school.

As the school is Govt. sponsored, this demand has sparked outrage among the Hindu minority community. Some said, ”How can some people demand something like this? This is the clear expression of hatred towards Hindus.”

Notably, as of now, no comments have come from the concerned authorities. But, experts say that discrimination towards the Hindu minority community has risen over the years. And the root cause of this is the radicalisation among common people. But, the present as well as previous govts. have not taken any steps to prevent such cases of discrimination in fear of losing votes. To secure the rights of Hindu minorities and to end the discrimination, Govt. must enact new laws, they say.
