Bangladesh: Durga Murti vandalised in Narsingdi, the Police arrested Muhammed Monir

Durga Murti vandalism by islamic radicals continues in Bangladesh. Now, an Islamic radical vandalised the Murti of Maa Durga in Narsingdi district of Bangladesh. The Police arrested accused radical Muhammed Monir.

As per the received information, local Hindus organised Durga Puja at Vitichinadi village under Shibpur Upazila of Narsingdi district. On 18th of October, a local Muslim man named Muhammed Monir(45) entered the temple and broke several Murtis including the Murti of Maa Durga. Local Hindus caught him in the spot and informed the Police.

Later, a member of the Puja committee filed a written complaint. Based on the complaint, the Police started a case against the accused under section 295 of Bangladesh Penal Code.

But, soon after the arrest, local Islamists marched to the Police Station and demanded immediate release of the accused. The Islamists demanded that the man is mentally unstable, so he broke the Murtis. But, the Police refused to do so as the action might hamper the law and order situation in the area.
