“Targeted Killing of Civilians Continues: Maoist killed another villager after branding him as an informer in Odisha”, Organiser, May 11, 2023:

“In yet another incident of targeted killing of civilians by the Maoists, armed cadres of the People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA), armed wing of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), have killed a former village head in the Phiringia area of insurgency-hit Kalahandi district of Odisha on May 10, claimed a few media reports.

As per the reports, the fateful incident occurred when around ten armed cadres of the banned Maoist outfit barged into the house of a former village head and took him along with them towards the outskirts of Saulipada village under phiringia block of Kalahandi districts. It’s been reported that the ultras later shot him dead and fled the spot.

The deceased has been later identified as Subal Kanhar, a former village head. It’s been learnt that he was killed on the suspicion of being a police informer. After learning about the incident, a police team has been rushed to the location, and a search operation is being conducted in the region…..”
