The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a significant step in Punjab’s fight against terrorism. They have confiscated the property of Gurjant Singh, a key suspect in the 2019 bomb blast case in Tarn Taran district, following an order from a special NIA court in Punjab.
Under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, the court directed the seizure of Gurjant Singh’s property in Pandori Golan village. The NIA initiated the case in September 2019, responding to a report by Tarn Taran Police about terrorist activities led by Bikramjit Singh Panjwar.
The terrorist group, aiming to instigate violence in Punjab, had planned an attack on Dera Muradpur in Tarn Taran. However, the explosives they had hidden accidentally detonated in Pandori Golan village. Gurjant Singh, a member of the terrorist gang, was present at the scene when the explosives were discovered.
Notably, the NIA successfully extradited Bikramjit Singh Panjwar, the main criminal, from Austria in December 2022. This NIA action is a crucial move to dismantle the terrorist network and ensure the safety of the people in Punjab.
