“Manipur: Indian Army foils major incident in by defusing three IEDs near Maphou Dam”, Organiser, May 26, 2024:

“In a significant operation, alert and vigilant soldiers of the Indian Army successfully averted potential tragedies by defusing three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Manipur’s Imphal East district.

The IEDs were discovered on the road connecting Nongdam and Etham Tangkhul villages, near the Maphou Dam, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.

The IEDs were found concealed along a 46-kilometre stretch of road linking Nongdam and Itham villages. The section of the road where the explosives were discovered is closer to Maphou Dam and Nongdam village. According to a defence spokesperson, “During a routine area-domination and surveillance operation, army personnel noticed the three IEDs placed, in tandem, along the road. Army columns acted swiftly and cordoned off the area……”
