Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray hit a new low today when he resorted to anti-Hindu and anti-Brahmin jibes in the garb of bashing the opposition and BJP.

Speaking on the floor of the assembly Uddhav Thackeray who supposedly heads a Hindu party said “those who were earlier reading horoscopes have now begun to read books and reports”. This was apparently a jibe targeting the LoP (Leader of Opposition) Devendra Fadnavis who is a Brahmin. Thackeray wanted to imply that Brahmins only read horoscopes.
It must be mentioned here that Brahmins traditionally read horoscopes so as to ascertain the date and time for the various Hindu rituals including Hindu festivals and marriages. Thackeray should bear in mind that not only Brahmins every Hindu community reads and follows the horoscopes before performing rituals.
Only yesterday the Thackeray-led government’s Mumbai police had ordered the removal of saffron flags and earlier too Thackeray in the name of BJP bashing had resorted to anti-Hindu comments by making gaumutra jibes during his Dussehra rally.
Thackeray had said “BJP’s Hindutva is confined only to Gaumutra and Cow Dung. He further went on to say that BJP spews the same gaumutra and cow dung on others. Attacking further he said that it’s you and your clothes who reek smell of Gaumutra and Dung. What am I supposed to do?”
Although Thackeray and his senior party colleague Raut often keep saying that their Hindutva doesn’t require any certification from anybody, they simply keep abusing Hindu Dharma by using BJP as a smoke-screen. Whatever the contempt Thackeray may harbour for his erstwhile coalition partner traditions and rituals of Hindu Dharma cannot and should not be mocked.
No self-respecting Hindu other than HINOS (Hindus in name only) and the secular Lutyens cabal would mock Hindu Dharma but Thackeray who claims to be an upholder of Hindutva only keeps falling lower with each new jibe.
Thackeray probably intends to prove to his newfound secular partners that he can be as anti-Hindu as they are and he is simply using the BJP as a crutch for this agenda. He, however, has a lot to answer if he still believes that he and his party leaders have not left Hindutva.
