TMC leader was in Saudi Arabia for Hajj, yet nomination filed in West Bengal

Apart from violence before Panchayat elections, forgery in filing nomination has come to light. Nomination of a TMC leader is already filed, although he is now in Saudi Arabia for Hajj. The incident has happened in North 24 Parganas district.

As per received information, Moinuddin Gazi is a powerful leader of Kumarjol Gram Panchayat area of Minakha block. He flew out of the country on 4th of June and will return on 16th of June. But, a nomination is filed in his name to contest election at Kumarjol Gram Panchayat. Now, a case has been filed at Calcutta High Court challenging his nomination.

Citing information of flight, the petitioner alleged that Moinuddin Gazi left the country before the announcement of the election. Hence there is no chance of him to physically appearing to file nomination. But, suprisingly a nomination is filed at BDO office and the nomination is accepted. There is something wrong in the nomination filing process, alleged the petitioner.

The petitioner alleged that BDO officer in connection with the candidate filed the nomination by the tampering the process. The petitioner also demanded an urgent hearing in this matter and urged the honourable High Court to cancel the candidature of the said person.

In hearing in this case, Honourable Justice Amrita Sinha directed State Election Commision and Central Immigration Department to submit necessary documents and information of the candidate.
